I thought Sakura needed a parasol to go with the giant dress of doom but I didn't want to make an umbrella cover out of satin because it looked frustrating. So I found this little paper umbrella at a store near my work and cut scallops in to it. There was a little finneal at the top that looked too much like a rose bud for me to resist sculpting one there. The trim is more bias tape. I am not sure what I want to do with the green ribs sticking out. I was thinking about sculpting some rose buds on them but that could be overkill. Any sugestions? I will post some close ups of the rose as soon as I get it lit properly.

i think it looks awesome, although i think your idea of the rosebuds on the ends is pretty nice, too. it wouldn't be overkill. tsubasa and xxxholic are all about the details!
and you've done a super job with the dress.
sewing satin covers onto parasols isn't that bad, i swear. my yuuko only too a couple of days, and only slight frustration. the key is to always have the fabric on the bias, and cut about six triangular pieces.

I like the green, because it matches the rose on top. It gives it an original look, that fits the costume.

I say either leave the green or paint it another color to match better. I think adding anything else would be too much. ^^; My $0.02.
