I present to you my lute. I think I will name it Federico or Alouishious, because it OBVIOUSLY needs a name! This was my final assignment in my props class this semester. The top is made of ply wood, the underside of the neck and peg boards out of pine and the underside of the belly out of pink insulation foam.

This was a stupid project to begin with, since I've been afraid of power tools since my retarded prof in first year (he used to shoot the nail gun across the room! Crazy I tell you! CRAZY!!!!!!) Thankfully I seem to have gotten over this, at least to an extent, since I still possess all 10 digits and most of the skin on my hands. I guess the belt sander and band saw aren't so bad after all ...

Oh! The tuning pegs were made by hand out of scrap mahogany and some of them even turn! The strings are fishing line (um ... little miscalculation, which is why they look odd right now. When I have the sanity I'll unstring it and fix it.) I'm aware it also looks a little crooked, but I'm okay with it, since I can't say I've ever tried to make a pretend stringed instrument before.

You know, all this because I want to do this stupid skit at CNAnime ... I could have made a pole axe!!
