I started with a pair of custom Chuck Taylor high tops from converse.com. I chose the dark blue exterior with the white tongue and lining. Next I masked the heel and the sides to paint the details. One thing I found out is that canvas doesn't spray paint very well. I spent about $40 on different specialty paints and the open weave of the fabric just soaks them all up.
