This shot shows the gun prior to painting - I added pieces of polystyrene sheeting to the barrel and handle to emphasize these areas and give them a really smooth look.
(The cord you can see in the picture was used to help the sheeting stay in place as that solvent-free glue took some time to dry... It would be removed prior to painting^^)
I even added those mysterious glyphs on the barrel that can be seen in the in-game graphics... they're tiny little strips of craft foam filled into slits that i cut into the foam / paper maché body.
