Some of you might be aware of the Tokyo metropolitan government's passing of an indecency law
affecting the manga industry (especially those featuring school-age characters or homosexuals) disproportionately while failing to regulate other mediums like softcore porn featuring real children. As a result of this law's passing and the huge affect it could have on manga without clear wording and even enforcement, 10 major comic publishers, including Kadokawa Shoten, will not take part in TAF this year (as it is a government sponsored trade event).
This is something to consider before deciding to attend.
This law has got everyone antsy. TAF has been chosen as something of a symbolic stand. Not attending
is a wonderful way to show your support.
If you aren't particularly concerned about the law, no worries
Enjoy. But read up on what's going on before making a decision.
