If your mother is helping you with sewing, a rectangular skirt is very easy and 100% appropriate for lolita as long as it's full enough. There are plenty of tutorials online. It's basically just a rectangle sewn together to make a tube, with a hem on the bottom and an elastic waistband on the top.
