This reminds me of swim meets, well it may not be the same reason for normal (?) exercise or non-team activities it still helps to think that your not the only one wanting to achieve the goal. Like at the swim meets I always think "I need to do my best or i'll let the team and my parents down" and that always gets me going as fast as I can (although as long as I try my hardest i'm not letting anyone down just to clear that up =/) and what I find helps (especially in the 4X100M relay) is the "hot guy at the other end of the pool" mind set xD

There's my advice just have a good support team and you can do anything ^^
