Farting on someone's head makes you look childish and immature; creating something that fulfills you artistically and inspires others, on the other hand, ought to be a lifelong pursuit.
As for the age thing: I'm in my late 30's, just started cosplaying a couple years ago, and have no plans to stop. It's a newfound creative outlet.
