What's worked for me: I drink a lot of green tea with artificial sweeteners added. Treat those candy sweet cravings with fruits. Nuts, popcorn (the low butter kind), and spicy foods (like kimchee) can help satisfy the cravings. Definitely stay off all sugary pop (soda). Avoid high-carb starchy foods like muffins, cookies, and lower bread and rice intake.
