Exclamation Only Ten Days left to submit designs for the Costume-Con 25 Future Fashion Folio

One of the unique events at Costume-Con is the Future Fashion Show. The designs that are made for the show come out of the Future Fashion Folio, which is the result of another contest held (roughly) six months prior to the convention.

Basically, you send in your sketches (well, copies of your sketches) for designs, and if they are selected to be put in the Folio, you agree to their use by the convention for the Folio and show.

You do not have to be a member of the convention to enter designs in this contest! You also don't have to be a great artist, if your sketch can get the point across it will serve.

The submission deadline for the current contest (Costume-Con 25 Folio) is August 15. Full details are available at http://www.cc25.net/FFF.htm

The Folio is a great way to start interacting with the folks who organize and attend Costume-Con, even if you can't afford to attend yourself.

(after the CC25 Folio closes, the CC26 Folio opens, but why wait? Submit something right away!)

Just a note- I'm crossposting this in the designer's hidden forum.

Thanks! I haven't had enough time to poke around in the forums to have even had an inkling that such a hidden forum existed!

I really wanted to enter, and had a few sketches planned, but just couldn't find the time to get them con-ready as they came to mind rather late. Perhaps next year this can be a go for me.

I *just* got a couple of ideas, and am going to try to dash off the sketches. While finishing my WorldCon costume.

Remember, they just have to be line drawings and a description... the design idea is more important than the art quality

Any sketches that arrive at CC25 after the deadline will automatically be forwarded to the CC26 Folio contest, by the way.

Not so fast, Mister!! Actually, if you have some designs close to being done, we won't be judging them immediately after the deadline. Write the editor offlist if a small deadline extension would allow you to finish up one or two of those and put them in the mail. Also, we do accept electronic submssions.

Does anyone know roughly when the Fashion Folio is due to be released?
I can't wait to see it. I'm much more excited about this than I originally thought I would be. I've always had my heart set on doing the Single Pattern Competition, but now I'm incredibly intriuged by the FF for some inexplicable reason. XD

Not sure, but I know the judging is done...

because due to WorldCon insanity I only got my sketches half-done

Of course, it simply means I can finish them up and submit them now to the CC26 folio competition.

Also, if you are interested in the SPC (Single Pattern Competition), CC26 will be doing that as part of the Folio (you need to submit a sketch of your SPC design to the Folio). The idea being that this way, everything which goes down the runway at CC26 will be published in the Folio first.

Karen Tully has just announced the two patterns being used for the CC26 SPC; the information is posted at http://www.cc26.info/main.php?sectio...s&page=fashion

The full rules will be posted there very soon.

^_^; I'm with you there completely, "Real Life", (insert eyeroll), also intruded on my design plans, so I did not get to dedicate nearly the time I would have liked to trying to make decent designs for the Folio. (I was a little tardy as well as it's my first time submitting and I was fretting). ^_^; I still have several unsubmitted designs bouncing around in my head, ones that I wanted to dedicate more time too. Hopefully after seeing this folio, I'll have a better idea of what kinds of designs they are looking for. Perhaps I'll try fof CC26 too if they'll have me.

Yep. You should be getting an e-mail right now. Notifications of the winners has already begun. We had over 175 designs submitted, about 100 got into this folio and around 30 designers. Not bad.

I didn't make this one, so I was thinking of sending in my designs to the next one.

The folio for cc25 had some themes. I checked out the cc26 website to see if there were any, but there weren't yet. Do you know approximately if/when they will? I like to use them as inspiration.

I imagine they wont have anything for a few months yet. We were pretty early with getting on ours, I'm sure they'll post something early next year - after all -- CC25 hasn't even happened yet.

Yes there will be several special themed competitions. Karen Tully will be announcing them soon.

In general the rules will be very similar to CC25's rules. One difference is we are doing a special "Single Pattern Design Competition". Information about those patterns has already been posted at http://www.cc26.info/main.php?sectio...s&page=fashion

Great! I'm looking forward to it.

I got my FFF in the mail after I paid my CC25 membership, and it inspired me to draw. I was feeling shy b/c I'm not that great of an artist, but after seeing the range of skill and designs in there, I sorta lost my hesitation.

A few of the designs I've got are something I'd really like to do, so I don't know if I'll submit them or not, but I could probably base something off a similar idea... but you'll have a few from me for CC26 for sure, since I've got some others already on paper and ideas floating around my head.
