Anne of Green Gables (Akage no Anne)
Hee hee, yup, this is in the right forum ^^.
http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/video/wmt/#anne_dvd
An "Anne of Green Gables" ANIME?!?! I think I'm going to faint. I've been the biggest fan of all L.M. Montgomery books since I was a kid. And seeing it in anime form, especially done by these people, just blows my mind.
Soooo. . .anyone have more information on this? I can't seem to find anything, except that there's a French Canadian dub. That doesn't help me much :P. I know this is a long shot, but what can I say? I'm an Anne fangirl ^^.
Edit: Ok, I figured I'd search eBay, although I was certain I would find nothing. But I guess there's a Hong Kong bootleg DVD with English subtitles floating around. Ack. I want to see this, but. . .I bet the sub quality is going to be bad.

Oh my gosh, really? I bought that book about a month ago, but haven't got to it on account of all the other books on my list. Looks like I have to bump up that one.
I have no info, but it sounds good... ^_^

It just makes scense! the AOGG story is so unique, though I would never have though of it becoming an anime.. even though it would work out so well.. I wonder if it will have a Secret of Cerulean Sands feel to it.

Not surprised, but the idea is really cute. ^^ I've heard about it since I got into anime. There's also an anime for A Little Princess and Little Women. There's more children's literature that made it into anime, there's a url that had a listing of it. *forgot* If I remember correctly, they were done by Nippon Animation Theatre (something to that extent) I still have yet to see these animes, actually. Would love too. ^_^

> An "Anne of Green Gables" ANIME?!?!
I used to watch it sometimes years ago (translated in French, of course). It's very "old style" and inaccurate at times (from what I remember) I never got into it, although I loved the books.
As far as adaptations, the Kevin Sullivan mini-series (and the Road to Avonlea TV series) are very, very, very superior. No comparison.

I'm not surprised, Anne has a cult following in Japan... you should see the swarms of Japanese that visit Prince Edward Island every year. ^__^
