Anyone planning on going to GenCon Indy??? I'm trying to find out who's attending/what cosplays they are doing, but no one is posting on the GenCon Indy thread in the "others" U.S. convention thread....

My group is probably going to GenCon. We're still debating which costumes to enter, though.

OMG! Other Indiana cosplayers exist! *sigh* We're nearly impossible to find, aren't we?
I'm in a little bit of a hurry so I can't read and talk a lot, but I figured I'd post! I'm Heather or Amy, depending on what you want to call me. Heather's my real name. But Amy is what most of my friends call me, just cause they do. ^^
It's really cool to see other cosplayers in Indiana!

I live in an area near Valparaiso. Anyone near me?

I used to live in a town that was half an hour from the nearest big box store, and the only "fast food" was from the gas station mini-mart. (Actually, I vastly prefer small towns to big cities, for a lot of reasons that I probably shouldn't go into here...)
That sounds EXACTLY like my home town. Poor little place, with a population of around 500 people (I THINK that's accurate. Could be wrong. >>), full of hicks. I miss Valpo soo much. I actually work at our little food mart. *sigh*

Yeah, my friend wanted me to come to Gencon, but by then I'd already made plans with out of state friends to meet for Ikasucon. Two major cons in two weekends might kill me!

((Though I think I could be convinced to drop by Gencon for one day in costume, just not the whole weekend!))

Ikasucon is a major con? I've never attended (though I'm planning on going this year), but I got the impression it had only a few thousand attendees. How big is it?

I've done three cons in one month before. It's doable, as long as you plan everything ahead of time (and don't have any major crises arise). We're doing Ikasucon and GenCon, and we've been invited to another one two weeks later, but I'm not sure if we'll make it to the third one. It's a busy time of year.

I might've misspoken! It's a major convention for me, because I've only been to two before, and they're both smaller than Ikasucon. So, it might not be that big compared to others, but it's going to be HUGE to me. I mean, the last convention that I went to was so small that we had open pizza parties and some very questionable props (as far as safety and realism went) and nobody really cared.

I'm so excited about going to my first BIG convention! Even convinced my parents to FINALLY come and visit the convention for a half-day to see what I actually do there. That's a miracle in itself, since when it comes to anime, they're clueless. This'll blow their small-town minds.

I'm actually not sure I'll get Luna done in time for Ikasucon- I got roped into a certification program unexpectedly that's going to cut three weeks out of my summer, and I'm still a beginner at sewing, so we'll see. I'll try, though! And I'll definitely have Haku and Demyx.

*raises hand* I'm going to Gencon!

Shokora twisted my arm and talked me into doing Abel (and man, it too SO much convincing, let me tell ya... </sarcasm>), and I'm also putting together a random pirate wench. And maybe a Slave Leia bikini (for myself, this time ), if I have the time/money.

Also, I'm really bummed that they changed the date and location for Ikasucon. I had a blast last year and was really looking forward to returning this year, but the additional distance and proximity to Gencon have made it exceedingly unlikely to happen. Especially since my cosplay companion and I are currently strongly considering going to Dragoncon. "In my younger days, I may have considered it. But I'm not as spry as I used to be," says the wise ol' 23-year-old.
