Hay guys. First off let me say Hi, I'm not sure if this is my first post, pretty sure it is, but anyways. I'm starting on my first MMPR cosplay costume. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who posted tips on how to make the costume (specially the helmet).
This is my first costume, I have already made the morpher thanks to the help from rangerboard.com. I am not done w/ it yet, I have an idea to redo the morpher in carbon fiber. Once I'm done, hopefully it'll look better than the real thing.
Right now I am starting to work on the helmet. I just bought all the main things I needed for now. 25lb and 2.2lb air dry clay (the 2.2 lb clay will be used as a filler). I also made an armature from some wood I bought from home depot. I'll post pics as I progress w/ the project.
Again, Thanks everyone.

Here's the start of the helmet. I Just finished the base and it's now ready to dry. Reason I need it to dry is because if I add anymore clay, I'm afraid it will will just break and the pole will go through the helmet. So there you have it. Planning on starting up again tomorrow after it has a chance to harden up..

First of all, amazing cosplays! I've been a fan of the Power Rangers since I was a kid (stopped watching after Zeo but still love the classic MMPR series). Talk about a nostalgia overload.
I saw the Emo Rangers spoof mentioned earlier in the thread, and thought it was hilarious as a group of my friends created the Awesome Rangers. Since we're all broke college students, the helmets were made out of cardboard, duct tape, and Halloween hockey masks. I'm using the advice from this thread to help make our uniforms a bit more sentai-looking for our next movie.
Also, a great reference I've found is http://www.supersentai.com/database/ - it has pics from every liveaction sentai series, including ZyuRanger.

So... I finally finished my Hurricane Blue outfit and wore it at Ohayocon 2008. I did the featherweight helmet method.... I don't think I will ever do that again. Then again, it was my first time ever making anything like that and I didn't have a putty knife. Since it came out rather beat up looking, I decided to become a "bloody ranger" as my friends called it.

I did hand make that morpher out of sculpey. It fooled a lot of people who thought I bought it. ^___^

I don't know if this pattern is out of season or not, but I used a Simplicity pattern for karate gi's kimonos and ninja costumes to make my White Ninjetti Points to edit: the pants will have to be made wider. Of course the obvious editing to the tabbard. Its best to make your own face mask and hood, as the ones on that pattern tend to look a little beat up (either that or i just sucked at making it).I'm currently in the process of remaking the hood, but here's how the rest of my costume looked http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1398668/

dunno if you made it yet but if you goto this site called www.highspots.com, it's a wrestling website but there is an area for custom gear and you can order it from there, not sure about price tho

So, in the 6 months since I've last posted, I've become a HUGE fan of Japanese sentai (aka Power Rangers before FoxKids and Disney got to them). I can't watch 10 minutes of Operation Overdrive or Jungle Fury without losing my mind, but I'll watch multiple episodes and movies of DekaRanger or AbaRanger without a second thought. ^^
Right now, my two favorite series are ZyuRanger (MMPR) and MagiRanger (Mystic Force).
After watching MagiRanger: Bride of Infershia, I fell in love with Yamazaki's bride dress. Right now, I lack the time, money, or skills for it, but someday, I intend on making it. *crosses fingers*

Been awhile since anyone posted on here. I havent posted, but I lurked XD. Anyway I was wondering if anyone was going to Anime Detour? I plan on going as the yellow power ranger. And then Im buying either a full body unitard, or a mock neck unitard to use for the costume, and then sew on the white fabric. I plan on buying halloween boots, like gogo boots or something. If it has heels, their generally a wood or cork or something that I can cut off and put the bottoms back on. The gloves Ill just buy around the same time. Ill also make the belt, and holster, and then buy the morpher/coin and the blaster ^^
Anyway, if anyone does decide to go Id love to meet up ^^
EDIT: Well so far, ive boughten the blaster, coin, and morpher. Plan on getting a then clay hard form for the helmet and dipping it in liquid fiberglass. ill post how it goes.

First post ever, just joined.
Making a MMPR costume and well, im stumped on the helmet. To be honest I'd be willing to spend $200 on a helmet. Know of anyone who would do it? Also, because I'm willing to by the helmet, I have to compensate with the belt. Anyone know of any alternatives for the belt? Thanks!

Ebay has a couple of helmets.
A guy is selling them pretty low, in teh $100 to 200 range for Light Speed Rescue Red.
What ranger are you trying to cosplay?
I'm trying to make or find a SPD 1Red helmet.
