I meant to write back on this, but things slipped... anyway, the Sydney Supanova was the backdrop to the theme of Australian artists exporting their wares overseas, with the focus on an Australian comics artist working on an American comic book, and on Queenie Chan and her work for Tokyo Pop. Also there was a look at Madman's rise from a flat importing anime to a large business importing art house films as well as Japanese popular culture.
Cosplay wasn't a focus of this segment of the programme, but it was interesting to see that the display of costumes appeared to be staged, rather than just background colour. I saw my good friend Anna in the queue and that was cool
