For halloween, I was thinking of dressing up in one of my cosplays, but I was already too hot from being in a rush to put up the stuff outside for the night and my mom had bought me one of those shirts with a face cover that is suppose to look like a monster or whatever, so I wore that. It was of a vampire and I wore the face cover in the stores we went into.

While at one store, I had an older gentleman look at me and say "what? you going to rob the place?"
and the other was from an older lady who looked at me and with laugh to start out what she was going to say, said "are you dressing up or are you ready for swine flu?!"

My friends and I were meeting up at the train station a couple of weeks ago for a private photo shooting. Apparently it was some sort of festival at the same time and we were almost complete when someone laughed at us and asked mockingly "And what are you supposed to be? Harry Potter?"

My friends were glancing at the guy and his friends, but I couldn't help but break into a heart felt chuckle, which caused my friends to laugh along and made them apparently feel increddible stupid.

And they were.
I mean... Harry Potter? XD
That was a good one, especially considering our costumes. We had one of the Turks from Final Fantasy 7, a Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji, a wolf-girl (own creation), a girl from D.-Gray Man (I always forget her name ^^°), Sanzo from One Piece and me as Taigong Wang (asian looking guy) from Warriors Orochi 2 at that point.
Noone of us looke ANYTHING remotly close to anyone resembling Harry Potter.

It was less insulting then prooving how brainless people are. If anyone is going to attempt insult us, they should at least KNOW what they are talking about. This group apparently didn't knew any of our character nor did it knew Harry Potter.

I do have autism, and I am borderline autistic, and I have other learning disorders. I have never let anything stay in my way to have someone tell me that "Oh you're autistic, and you can't do anything." I've many few obsessions. Some are writing, drawing, reading, making costumes, cosplaying, and music, computers and internet. I find it difficult to talk about much else. Its hard for me to keep interest in other peoples conversations, its not because I dont care about what people are saying, its because I have trouble understanding. So you know what if I go cosplaying, and get called a dork or a freak.

Yes, I sometimes take offense to that, but I let it rub off. I ignore it. I'm proud to be who I am, and I never let anyone take it away from me to be who I want to be. I'm me, only me.

I'm visionary artist, and I love to craft things for cosplay when I have the time.
omgosh! That was extremely harsh! I think some people are just ignorant and dont have alot of knowlege or common sense of these things.

I was dressed as Spider-Man Noir this Halloween and was walking to my kiosk, to which I work, and a security guard stopped me and demanded I take the mask off or he would have me kicked out. I took the mask off, then he demanded to know what the hell I was doing, was I going to rob a place? I sighed, and said
"It's Halloween, I'm allowed to dress up"
He had no idea it was halloween and huffed away. If it wasnt Halloween, I could understand, but I mean, like 200 kids passed me in costumes before he saw me, how did he not see them?

After that, Satan helped me feel better with a good back massage and some quite alone time with him. He's the best!

All from this week:

"キモイ"(Kimoi) ~ essentially "You make me sick"
- random cool-guy in the shotengai with his girlfriend (this was while I was handing out candy to little kids also in costumes... so I really wanted to take him out *grrrr*)

"消えろ"(Kiero) ~ "dissappear" or "get lost"
- another random jerk biking by as I was walking to a Halloween party with some friends

"So you're one of those anime things... like from porn? You're one sick puppy!"
- playfully, from a university professor dressed like Dracula who I was handing out candy with... comments like this continued for about... oh *consults watch* 6 hours...

"So what... are you? Are you some kinda anime thing? I don't watch those. I only watch real movies."
- his 10 year-old half-Japanese son, dressed at the Terminator *sweatdrop*

That officer knew it was halloween! Especailly if there was other people around dressed up. I guess he was just worried that someone might take advantage of the hoilday and rob something.

I passed by a shoe store and on the front door windows it had like to signs saying " please remvoe all costume, mask, and suspicis garments before entering the store." I laughed for a bit but then I relaize that people can take advatange out of halloween.

I'm glad you don't let people like her get you down, > She's totally not worth it. People like that wouldn't understand it if her children cosplayed let alone someone else's. It doesn't really matter who you are, cosplay is a passion like any other thing, just do you thing, and ignore the people who are too busy pretending to be like everyone else

I think it's best to say something as nice as you can find about the costume and stick with it.....itherwise you're lying about a costume if you don't like it.........or you're being rude by saying the thing you don't like about it. THAT'S rude! You should be as nice as you can........

i have learned that for every 1 rude or demeaning comment there will be 3 to 5
positive ones , the first time i cosplayed , i did at my friends pizza shop, there were some rude and some funny drive bys where they would shout things, but when a woman in a van drove up and asked " how long will you be here " i said as long as you want me to . She said thank you , my son favorite hero is spiderman , to make a long story short , with in 25 min she returned with a van load of children and her son which had down syndrome, he ran and jumped in my arms and said I was his favorite hero and how happy i made him feel to beable to see and to talk to spiderman , under my mask i got teary eyed so anymore when i cosplay and someone tries to make a rude comment i think about him and i smile , and just think to myself there is always someone out here that i will make happy for being suited up..

just a side note; people that do laugh at you are just jealous because they are to scared
or dont have the @#$% to wear a costume!!!

Ehh the really only rude comment I've gotten (or heard at least) was at Oni-con last weekend, I was cosplaying as Motoko Kusanagi. I tried to pick a modest version of her costume without my tooshy hanging out the whole time, but the low neckline did me in.(Seriously I know)

Most of the weekend I got some pretty hysterical jokes, and at 20 years old 'boobies lulzorz!' does not bother me. But when I was walking down the hall back to the front lobby I heard a guy against the wall telling his friend, in a very unsubtle tone "Look at those bouncing titties!" trying to get him to notice, but as I walked away he said "Oh never-mind".

It wasn't particularly rude as it was tasteless. I know, they're boobies. But yelling about it in a hallway just made me feel slutty.Until a girl told me I had "hot cleavage" and made me laugh hard enough to forget xD

Lithium Flower, I saw you in the parking lot as we were driving to get a parking space friday! I thought your costume was really well done! D: Some people at cons are just there to gawk, so don't feel slutty. Your costume was awesome!

And I just said friday, didn't I? XD Lack of sleep kills me. I was only there saturday and sunday, but yeah. I liked your costume.

People honked at us when we walked out to get food sunday, and someone shouted something but I couldn't make it out. I was dressed in an orange flight suit, and had to wear it on the way home too. What terrified me was that when we stopped to get food we were near a prison, and thankfully no one made any comments... I DID get funny looks though. Maybe they were too afraid to talk to me. XD

xD Understandable, what would have been great is if you took pictures in-front of the signs on the interstate that say "Prison Area.Do not pick up hitchhikers"

Awwwww what a sweetheart you are :P

I attended a con this weekend with a few friends. On the last day, one of my buddies and I went to a sports bar for lunch, i was cosplaying as yoruichi and he was in regular clothes, when we got seated the hostess sat us wayyyyyyy in the back. After getting our drinks, we didn't see the waitress again for close to 20 minutes. Had it been packed in there i would have understood, but that wasn't the case. Her shift leader/ supervisor came over to ask how we where doing after the other chick left (I think because we looked so pissed off). Then shortly after that the waitress came back with her extra fake smile asking us the same thing as though she was really concerned (loser) then less than 5min later the manager came over to inquire about the same thing and he looked none to pleased about having to "clean up" that dumb chicks potential mess. From then on the waitress was extra attentive...I don't know why...her last minute "kindness" didn't help her tip.
