Crossplay poses for pear-shaped folks

This is an odd question but, I'm a pretty ridiculous tomboy to begin with, so mannerisms aren't the issue ~ it's the relative ginormity of my thighs!!!

A binder and man-pants take care of the torso and when standing I look fine. But the moment I sit down, the shorts hike up and the thighs appear ~ ginormous, voluptuous, womanly thighs *turns self on*

Errr~ *cough*

I'm on a diet to slim down to about 50 kilos even (am 58 now)... but as weight comes off, it still comes off proportionally.

Any ideas for banishing the thighs? Or at least finding poses (especially sitting poses) to minimize how big they look?

Thanks.

I have a bit of the same issue - I've been riding horses for 21 years, and the result is what is so unflatteringly called "riding pant thighs", which basically means, well, good-sized thighs.
I'd say that what to do with them depends on what you'll be wearing, though - any chance I could get a reference picture? There's lots of things you can do with the actual costume in order to hide and/or enhance.

Well, a good start is to realise that many men do actually have "hips".

If you're 128lbs / 58k you can barely have "thighs", anyway - it's physically impossible unless you're VERY short.

If you're not VERY short, I would recommend you NOT go down to 50. It's not worth it and that's about the weight an average-height person starts to feel shitty simply because of the poor health required to be such a weight.

At this point, I would really recommend running and stretching to tone your thighs, rather than dieting to try and lose even more weight. I'm a shade under 50 kg, which is perfectly fine for 5'0", but if you are taller than me then as OurLadyC stated you wouldn't be at a very healthy weight.

As for size and diettimes ~

I said "relative" ginormity. I'm a pear-shaped girl... and I used to be a bigger girl than I am now which leaves me with a bit more lingering in certain areas than others (and not everything is as tight as it might otherwise be).

As for height... I'm 5`4...
As for weight... I'm comfortable with it... when I live in the states.

Unfortunately I live in Japan... where I am currently an L or XL in everything and fit into the largest size of jeans without moving to the plus department.

When people hear my weight they're aghast.

I recognize that this is, in part a racial issue and that I have hip-bones the size of small Japanese cars... but it can get you feeling down about yourself, especially if you try to wear something short or tight.

50 may be pushing the limit on anorexia ~ but I'm pretty sure I'll only ever accomplish half of whatever I set my mind to. Which means in order to lose any of that weight, my goal needs to be half again as much as I'd like to shave off.

If you aren't Japanese, don't worry about it. You're just built differently and 8 kilos isn't going to change your bone structure, or much at all. :/

Eight kilos = three-and-a-half pounds give or take about a tenth of a kilo.

This is a picture of me in a micro miniskirt as Jessie from Team Rocket. At 5-foot-9 and 270 pounds (on a good day mind you) I pulled it off by having guts.

You weigh a little less than I do, and we're about the same height. I don't suggest trying to lose any more weight.

... Looks like the slightly freakish heights and weights you find on character profiles have basis in reality. And here I thought it was just a "cartoon people" thing.

This is probably not what you want to hear, but your thighs look perfectly normal to me and I'd recommend simply taking pictures more from the side rather than losing any weight! Everyone's thighs get broader when they sit simply because they get flattened across the surface you're sitting on. Taking pictures from the side (or standing up) would solve that problem - not that I see much of a problem at all.

I used to be a hard-core volleyball player so I know what you mean about thighs being troublesome. I had to buy pants that were much to large in the waist just to get a proper fit for my thighs and legs.

And don't worry about your size in Japan. 5'4" is on the taller side for East Asians as you may have noticed. When I was in Asia, I ended up buying mens pants simply because they were long enough and fit my legs LOL. Diet + genetics dictate how each of us will be. Your photo does not make your thighs look as bad as you probably think it does. It's a combination of camera angle plus foreshortening.

Just keep in mind: never face a camera head-on (profile photos are hard to flatter as well). This perspective will add weight. Angle the body approximately 30-45 degrees in front of the camera. If sitting, crossing your legs helps slim thighs. For standing poses check out this woman's blog with photo examples:

Ideal weight for your height is somewhere around ~50-66 depending on your BMI, and around ~55 with ideal BMI, so you're right in the range and amazingly close to the ideal BMI range. If you really want to lose weight, I would lose weight because you wanted to and not because you want to look better in a costume. I don't think you have big thighs either; after all, you are a girl. If you're dead set on it, I would recommend a mix of cardio and strenght training focused on your thighs and light strenght training on the rest of your body.

As for the picture, if the photo permits, and doesn't look goofy, slightly elevating your thighs will prevent them from being flattened (like all peoples thighs do) and will slim them down horizontally; which, i'm going to guess, is what you're concerned about in photos. If you do cross your legs, keep one leg slightly above the other to again minimize the flattening of the underside. I'd usually mess with a camera on my phone to see how picture turn out, and it's sometimes amazing. Like Ion said, just turning slightly to the left or right makes a photo so much better.
