I am not shy to use a telephoto lens on the long side of my 70-210mm lens. I like how it captures great candids, close-ups of faces, head and shoulder shots, or waist up shots.

I try to be mindful that getting like 30 feet back or more and zooming in can add a bit of weight to people... There is that distortion to consider, in contrast the distortions from getting less than 3 feet from people with wide lenses.
