but I can't spend alot of money on each one.
You can find a lot of these things at a Target or something for maybe a few bucks each. The brushes, I would go ahead and splurge a little. Either buy only a few good quality brushes (for example, a powder brush and one reasonably multi-use eyeshadow brush), or drop some money on a whole set of good brushes. Synthetic fiber brushes (also known as the cheap ones) aren't so great.

But let's see. I think at a Target (or any other similar store) you could get some fairly cheap pressed powder, concealer and eyebrow pencils. I'm not so sure about their eyeshadow prices, but it doesn't hurt to check them out. What do you need the puffs and pads for? For a while, I was using a cotton ball to apply blush and powder.

I usually use a brush for powder. And I think you're supposed to use a brush for powder foundation as well. I could be wrong on that one though. I use liquid foundation, so I don't know for sure.

Think of it at steps to get a clear complexion.

1. Wash your face with a good face wash. Avoid astringents if you can help it.

2. Use a moisturizer, preferably one with sunscreen in it. Is this what was confusing you? Moisturizers are usually kept near their facewash counterpart in the store, so finding it shouldn't be hard. Moisturizer is basically to return some moisture to your face, after you've cleaned off not only grime, but also natural moisturizing skin oils. If you don't use moisturizer after washing your face, you can A, get more oily, since your face starts producing the natural oils in excess to make up for the stuff you just scrubbed off, or B. start getting flaky. I get flaky in the creases near my nose. In short, MOISTURIZER IS IMPORTANT TO USE RIGHT AFTER WASHING, WHETHER IT HAS SUNSCREEN IN IT OR NOT.

3. Personally, I use foundation here, rather than the concealer. You don't need to cake your face in it. One even layer is all you need. You just want it to even your skin tone.

4. Concealer is for specific problem areas, like a reddened zit or something. You just want to dab it on until it's decently covered.

5. Use a translucent powder to set the makeup. This step is important!

So I promised my friends I'd more then make up for it next year. Sine all of my friends are hardcore Megaman fans, I decided to surprise them by cosplaying as Bass (forte if you go by japanese name), the evil android antagonist to Megaman. So I am putting evey day I can to use to make the best possible cosplay. I am building my own personal Armor thanks to help for 405th's forums, But before I do that. I am right now on a very grueling body building workout for the next several months (I realy want to look the part) and then make the body cast so I have a perfect mannequin to work with. But the most important thing I NEED to work on is my face. Don't worry I like the way I look, I just really want to look the part. The pic bellow as well as my Profile pic show bass, One with and one without armor. Aside from having to work on a wig and save up for some fire red contacts with prescription, I need to figure out appropriate facepaint and some basic male makeup techniques. I want to make it clear my aim is not achieve a crossplay look, but a bishonen look. I want to appear Like I am more an android then a human. I know nothing about makeup, so I am trying really hard to follow these threads carefully reading the stickies as I go. I am especially taking a close look at the acne and perfect skin threads. Part of my goal will be to develop a more pallid skintone. Thank you so much for reading this and thank you for any help you provide.
PS if you really need a photo of me for figuring out anything let me know.
Dude, I so want to see your cosplay. I'm a HUGE Rockman fan--been involved in the scanlation part of the fandom for years. Let me know how it goes! I've always wanted to do Rock myself--maybe seeing how you do it will inspire me XD

Oh yes! And if you can, try to hit Otakon. Half the fandom's big names are there simply because most of them live on the east coast -_-; so if you wanna meet up with Tabby, MMN, stuff like that, it's a good place to go.

Geez I've been Out for a while. As Promised I wouldn't post unless i had something relevant and or important pertaining to this thread. The workout is still in full swing and I am getting Closer and closer to the body I want for Bass. I have also been biding my time by saving up for my materials which have included makeup!

I always smile when I see these sorts of posts. It inspires me, and motivates me to put my best foot forward in this project. I really am considering going to other cons if this is a hit. Comic Con is in NYC this year and that would be the easiest to get to. As far as otacon is concerned, It mainly depends on the date.

Now this part may be a little off topic, but bear with me I'll get back on track very quickly. I like to keep my work under wraps, but I am a bit of a narcissist. I stumbled upon a few items and am currently trying some way to put them into my suit. I'll just leave these here for you to guess.

Ok back to makeup. Winter dry is in full swing now, and I am happy to report I have found a remedy for drying skin. Hand lotion bars and hand soap moisturizers. Its a great combination and I don't just recommend this. It should be the Standard for anyone! well I better get back to my commission work. I got one due February.
