A quick Q about props and megacon

Does it allow metal props, for example a replica of a sword, to be carried around? I read the props page on the megacon site but it didnt say anything about metal props.

Also i have never been to megacon so i dont know how it usually goes with props over there.

If no metal is allowed i have a wooden replica already made lol

well it really depends on what it is,a sword however i don't believe they would allow however maybe if you keep it in its guard but as far as i no they only allow wooden swords. Also if your taking a gun it must have an orange tip so that's about all i no on that.

Megacon's main website should have a section in it's weapon's policy that discusses those types of weapons/props. I'll go try and hunt down a link for you.

However, if my search turns up with nothing then I would encourage you to get in contact with someone from the con staff or con security and ask them directly. I would also emphasize just what you intend to use your prop for (masquerade skit, costume contest, or photoshoot) and make sure that you can get cleared for using it at the con.

Good luck!

I read the weapon and prop policy but i still have a question.... i have pretty big prop... its about 7 feet tall, would that be allowed at the con? I'm pretty sure im not going to hall it into the dealers room but would it be acceptable in the lobby area?

if it's a sword it has to be zip-died/peacebonded into the sheath, with no capability of being drawn, and the con security has to do it for you, also it may not be swung around, only mounted on part of your body as a costume accessory.

Metal props with sharp corners, edges, or heavier pieces that may collide with individuals are prohibited due to hall traffic.
