Timeline: I e-mailed her to get the quote in late January but didn't get my measurements to her until February 28. It was all done and in my hands by April 15th.

Pros: Very well made. Looks just like the reference pictures. The pocket is even a real pocket. I got a lot of comments about how good my costume looked. I had lost some weight, so the sizing was a bit off but she explained to me how I could take it in myself a little bit.

Cons: Communication was slow sometimes but she always seemed really genuine about why she was slow to respond.

Final Grade: A-

Timeline: I first contacted Nicholas on march 15, my costume was ready april 27th and it arrived in the mail may 8th (from USA to Belgium).

Pros: The costume is an accurate version of Julie Makimoto's clothing. It's very high quality (you can't see it on the picture how good it really is), a lot of attention has been paid to detail. Nicholas asked for a lot of pictures to be sure he could make the costume exactly as it should be. I always got quick replys to my emails. The costume was finished quite fast and I didn't even give him a deadline.

Cons: I didn't get any updates on my costume, that made me a bit impatient. The pants are a bit too big, but you can't see it if I pull them down a bit. There's a little black smudge on the yellow heart of the vest ... I think it's a marker that hasn't been completely erased.

Comments: I'm really happy with this costume, it looks great. I would recommend JDscosplay as a commissioner.

Final Grade: A

Timeline (how long your order took to process): First contact was established on 11.01.2010, choosing her as comissioner was done on 23.01.2010 and then we went through some detail-stuff, before I placed the first half of the payment at the beginning of febuary. Got the Mail that the costume was finished last week and recived the parcel yesterday (12.05.2010)

Describe your Experience:
Cons: The only real thing that I can critize: After I'd placed the order and answering a few more questions, there was silence for almost two months without a word, which made me very insecure and worry as this was my first time having a costume comissioned. I don't want an e-mail on every single stuff, but I think just a short status report after a month would be nice.

Pros: Everything but the one mentioned in cons.
Each item has been tailored to fit my given meassures perfectly. The quality was... stunning. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly was not this kind of accuracy and well-chosen fabrics. The colors are as close a match as it is probably possible, texture fitting, the PATTERNS!!!! were made with very much accuracy. It almost pains me to admit it, but they did a better cos than I would have done had I had the time.
Also the collars of the dress shirt and cloak stand on their own, just as they should.
Heck, they even found fitting belt buckles!

Comments: I mentioned before in the cons that I didn't get any kind of message, but what I have to add to this is, that after I wrote them an e-mail after that time I got answer within 24 hours and I really liked that they actually ASKED QUESTIONS and also asked for additional sketches that I had offered to provide due the complexity of the outfit.
Also the items were packed separately in three plastic bags, giving additional protection.
The result is more than pleasing and I'll surely ask them to do other costumes for me in the near future.

Final Grade: A+ (I was originally going to place only A because the con really irked me as a first-timer, but I've choosen to give A+ due the finishing result. I really love the costume and look forward to wearing it).

Timeline (how long your order took to process): The order was placed in mid-April and recieved in early May.

Describe your Experience: I ordered two costumes from coseyes for the summer season. One (Eruru) was pretty accurate (aside from having no ribbon in the back). The other (Len) was chosen in spite of obvious inaccuracies for reform potential. The base material for both is polyester though trims are in faux leather and satin, the Eruru underdress is lined in satin. I paid 8,500 yen each (about US$70) plus shipping.

Pros: The colors are lovely and very accurate. The Eruru costume in particular is surprisingly high-quality and looks nicer on than I had imagined it would. The craftsmanship is nice and no materials seem to be reused/recycled (a problem I've had with other Chinese makers in the past). Everything fits and looks as it was represented on the website.

Cons: Slow-loading website. Slow shipping (3-4 weeks). Overcomplicated ordering system that doesn't allow you to order costumes in multiple sizes in a single order and requires multiple email confirmations. Some costumes are inaccurate or frustratingly designed (the Gekokujo yukata sleeves are baffling). International shipping costs are a bit steep (1,500 yen). Costumes include tons of (not always necessary) pieces that can be difficult to keep track of and put on.

Final Comments: One of the nicer Chinese factory dealers. They represent their items fairly, construct them extremely well, and include support-pieces that aren't necessarily visible in the costume images/descriptions. That said, they're a bit on the slow side (site and transaction-wise) , have an extremely dense ordering system and can be quite difficult to complete transactions with without Japanese proficiency and quite a lot of time to send confirmations. Some costumes in their portfolio are lazily researched and most are at least a little bit inaccurate. You should compare images on the site with references to decide if a costume is accurate enough to be worth your time.

Final Grade: A-

Timeline: We started chatting right after New years. I knew I had
a limited time to get this done. I paid my first payment on the first of
Feb. with a due date of May 7th. USPS had not notified Y-chan that Fed ex
did not run up here in canada on Saturdays and nor did Canada Post >.>
There was also an issue with shipping. One of the packages got returned for no apparent
reason, but the next day she said she paid extra to have a tracking number
and a different type of shipping.Neither package has arrived and my deadline has been missed by a week.

Communication: When Y-chan orginally agreed to take on my commission
I had asked for bi-weekly updates. I got these updates for the first
few times and then they started coming a little bit late. I didn't
mind.
I actually recently talked to Y-chan's partner, Unii about this
issue. Many of you are aware that Catnip Cookie is currently on a temporary
hiatus until they can get back on track. One of the reasons is that they
are going to take time and train another person to be a secretary of
sorts and that way customer emails will be responded to very quickly.
At the moment it's a mix of Y-chan and Unii doing the communicating
and I think they are doing an okay job and I support their decision to
hire someone to reply to emails etc.

If and when I get the cosplay...I'll take pictures. *le sigh*


Experience (Pros, Cons and the Such)

Pros: At the moment, I would say them, but I havent heard ANYTHING from them. I am just so frustrated that I will say there are none for now.

Cons:
I really wish some emails were responded to faster. However, like I said
I talked it over with Unii and they are working on training someone for
the job


Gmail sucks. hardcore. I think that a change in email servers may
benefit catnip cookie as gmail is glitchy and sometimes will not let
them check their email!

I only got 2 pictures. I'm someone who really visualizes things and this
bothered me a little but, but once it was explained why they don't really
send out pictures that often, I understood.

I never got a tracking number and after the 8th, I haven't heard from them >.>
Its now the 13th. If it was shipped GEG on Friday even, it would have been here

I am really beginning to wonder if it even shipped, as bad as it sounds, I trust them, but like I said, I never got a
tracking number. 2 days of my con have allready been missed and I have a feeling
the rest of the days will be missed as well because it's not here.

As it stands, the grade is a : F-


EDIT** I got a hold of them a bit after this review was written. Excuses were made and promises were also made. One good thing? I did get a partial refund for some of labor costs. The bad thing? They promised pictures. Didn't get em. They promised we would work together to set another deadline. They stopped replying to emails. They prom ised to get me a tracking number. Didn't get it. They keep saying the customs form isn't filled out right... You post office can help you with that! UGH. It just infuriates me that I belived her for so long. I have no seen my costume, nor do I think I ever will. She claims to have put in a mail claim on the big sword she sent, which I am pretty sure she didn't send at all. UGH. All I wanted was a freaking costume that was going to be my last time cosplaying, and what do I get? This headache.

I have an update. She replied to my BBB comapling with this: (Note to everyone, I have lots of proof I did try and email her/ fb msg her etc )


We have offered to send images of the costume for approval before sending to which no response has been received. I've had unstable internet which I have made very clear.
If the client still wants the costume we are more than happy to send it within 2 business days of confirmation. If the client would rather a refund we will refer back to our policies for refunds:
In the case of a refund we will attempt to sell the garment AS IS on the general market. Once the item sells, whatever percentage was paid of the item will be the percentage of sale the client will get (this is often less than originally paid). Because we have given a 50% refund thus far as our apologies for the trouble we will refund 50% of the selling total of the garb if the client wishes not to receive the garment anymore.
CNC is temporarily going out of business. We will apply for BBB accreditation if we decide to get back into the game. We want to solve any last problems before resuming our hiatus. Please let us know if these are acceptable terms and how to proceed.
Slanderous remarks have been made via public venue by client including the revealing of personal information. We see no reason to go above and beyond our policies given said circumstances. We do, however, apologize for the plausible circumstances that have delayed the garment's mailing. All of these were explained as they happened to the client.Most of this information was detailed in the response to the complaint but we'd like to further express the terms:
There was a delay in mailing the order due to the first attempt being send back and the second attempt halted by personal injury of the owner. As soon as this was known a member of the CatNip Cookie staff informed the client of the issue. Once the owner came back to work she explained this to the client and of her current circumstances (including lack of internet access). New terms were set that as soon as internet was had again images would be provided to the client for approval before mailing. Client instead led a personal attack on CatNip Cookie slandering our name and revealing personal information to the public.
Out policies are agreed to by the client upon placing their order. We inform them of the policies before ordering, it's their choice rather or not to read them. We cannot and will not go above and beyond our policies for a client who has gone out of their way to slander our name before trying to contact us directly (to my knowledge). We are happy to work within our policies to come to a comparable solution with the client.


I replied to the claim saying I just wanted pictures and a tracking number and I would drop the IC3 charge as well as the visa chargeback. I will update this as soon as something happens

TimeLine:Ordered and paid in January expect order to be finished mid March -- NEVER GOT THE COSTUME, RESPONSE, PICTURES, OR REFUND!!!

Experience:

Pros: If you read all other reviews they all will say the same thing…she is a very good talker. I was actually suspicious at first and questioned her. Because she was EXTREMELY detailed in what she could do for me. I mean she talked about she is in college and she has a business and she is so good at what she does. I mean every time I emailed her she gave a me fast and like a 1-2 page response! So after dealing with her and paying she said she would get my costume done in my time period which was March.

Cons:Where can I start…well let me bullet point the negative points so you can easily read this mess.

1. After paying her, her emails stopped being so long and stopped being frequent. I barely email her in thew beginning so her brining the “spam” card is false. That was when IO had a big feeling I was scammed. The con artist will entice you in the beginning. The moment they take your money is when they run.
2. I NEVER got any preview pictures or progress pictures. She use the excuse that “she doesn’t have time” to constantly take pics” and “my camera is lost!”
3. Emailed me in March asking me if I can extend the deadline because she needs to finish a costume for someone else first. Okay I can forgive that. I told her April the latest. So of course she missed my original deadline
4. IT IS NOW MAY!!! I have NOT heard from her or seen my costume! SCAMMED!
5. I emailed and Twittered her now on a daily basis and had NO response! She had completely stopped contact me.
6. Here is the worst part: SHE EMAILED ME BACK ONE TIME SAYING SHE DIDN’T DO MY COSTUME BECAUSE I DIDN T PAY HER!!! WHAT THE EFF!
7. I showed her my receipts that I did pay her and now want my refund because if she had 4 months to do a simple costume and didn’t start on it, well I want my money back or I will sue her. She emailed me back one more time saying she WILL LOOK INTO IT!
8. Once again NEVER RECEIVED MY COSTUME AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY PREVIEW PICS!

Final Grade: F - F - F - F

Pros: The wig is perfect. A little darker than I expected but that's alright. Communication throughout the commission and progress photos.
Cons: For some reason or another, the wig turns blue if I use flash and it came late (The day after I need it. I was already at the con)
Final Grade: A-(Minus because of the blue and being late)

Describe your Experience.

Pros: Great communication. The questions that I asked prior to ordering were usually answered within a day. The wig itself is very high quality and incredibly soft to the touch. The colour of the wig is actually much more vibrant in reality than pictured in the store which was a pleasant surprise to me because I thought it was going to be the sort of off-pastel green pictured in the shop. The shipping was also surprisingly fast.

Cons: The actual 'bun' that came wig the wig is kind of tricky to attach to the wig. It's made from a very tough mesh with a hair extension that has been woven and glued onto it. I will probably had to add more glue to keep the bun from falling apart but other than that it appears to be fine.

Comments: They aren't necessarily the cheapest place to purchase from but they are one of the fewest sites that I know of which offers heat resistant wigs. I would certainly recommend them.

Final Grade: A- (The minus being for the minor issues with the hairpiece)

Describe your Experience: I had bought my first wig from them a few months ago for my C.C. cosplay. When I got it I was disappointed with the fibre quality and the fact it wasn't heat resistant when I remember ordering a heat-resistant wig; however, when I expressed my concerns on the forums, epiccosplay messaged me about it and relayed my problem to CosplayDNA. I expected to simply send the wig back for a refund, but they actually offered to send me a brand new wig!

The replacement wig I got was much better than expected. It's thick and silky with a really nice color. Plus it's actually heat resistant - yay! I'm very pleased with them, and I'll definitely order from cosplayDNA in the future! Communication was also very smooth. =) Special thanks to epiccosplay for facilitating that.

Final Grade: A

I bought this wig at a small discount through otamap, a Kansai-based warehouse that acts as a sort of middleman between cosplayers and a number of different dealers, allowing them to purchase from multiple merchants at a time. The shipping delay was caused by another wig I purchased from another maker that was out-of-stock, not the prichara wig, which was available right away. So they can't really be faulted on that one. Otamap let me know almost immediately that the shipment would be delayed and was prompt with letting me know when it would arrive.

The item was shipped as described in a box, in a carrying/storage case and bundled inside a wig net. The wig arrived smooth, untangled and as-pictured on the website, however ~ as with any long wig, it's quite easy to tangle once out. A few comb-throughs with Prichara's oil spray and a sheen of regular hairspray made the wig much more manageable later on.

Site photos are representative of actual colors ~ the only potential gripe I have is that their non-resistant black is ~VERY~ black and very shiny. It looks a wee bit unnatural on human characters. If I had to do this wig order over, I'd opt for the darkest brown over black or go for the duller-finish heat-resistant wig.

The order was shipped with a free black wig cap.

This is the second time I've ordered from prichara online and the 6th Prichara wig I've bought period. As usual, I'm pleased with the transaction.

I used COD (collect-on-delivery) and recommend this method especially if your Japanese isn't particularly up-to-snuff. You only need to pay the postman when he arrives.

Prichara (and otamap) only ships within Japan but you may be able to order their products through finders' services or overseas-auction handlers for a commission.

Final Grade: A

The wig was shipped in a gorgeous embossed gift-box. Inside the box, the wig is wrapped in an equally gorgeous drawstring bag, then is bundled inside a wig net with tissue paper fill in the hollow of the wig. The wig arrived smooth, untangled and as-pictured on the website. The color is stunning. This is the most beautifully dyed, styled and specific wig I own. I purchased it for my Konoe costume and it is every bit as perfect as it looked online. The style and coloring isn't a common one though, so reusing it for other characters is pretty unlikely.

This sort of quality comes as a price though. Alice Forest wigs are murder to buy!! 4,800 yen on sale is by no means cheap for a non-heat-resistant, non-character-styled wig in a short/medium style. I'm tempted to say it's worth it... but honestly, I might just be dazzled by the pretty packaging.

Site photos are 100% representative of actual colors and styles. Alice Forest wigs LOOK like heat resistant wigs but style like non-resistant ones. The wig holds more volume and is more resistant to flyaways while having a more muted finish. I DIG that ~ since I actually prefer styling non-resistant wigs. But others might be disappointed not to be able to play with heat-styling or at the rougher feel of the wig fibers.

The order was shipped with a free flesh-toned wig cap.

This is my first Alice Forest wig ... and probably my last. Even so, I'm going to wear the hell out of it and be very pleased with myself whenever I do :3

I used COD (collect-on-delivery) and recommend this method especially if your Japanese isn't particularly up-to-snuff. You only need to pay the postman when he arrives.

Alice Forest currently only ships within Japan but you may be able to order their products through finders' services or overseas-auction handlers for a commission. They also have and "english" language tag that can't currently be accessed, but implies they may eventually expand to overseas business.
