Name of Merchant: coseyes
Website: http://www.coseyes.com/ Items ordered: Aruruu (Utawareru Mono) robe, jacket and obi/ribbon Kagamine Rin ~Gekokujo Version (VOCALOID) yukata, obi, shorts & undershirt Links to picture(s) of your items recieved: Aruruu ~ costume (obi has been tucked up into the jacket ribbons to hold it in place, it is actually much wider) (+ support pieces) , Rin ~ coming Timeline (how long your order took to process): The order was placed in early-May and was recieved June 1st. Describe your Experience: A second purchase from coseyes for the summer season (for the mates of the last one, ie. my cosplay partners' costumes). Just like in the other review, one costume (Aruru) was pretty accurate (it even has the ribbon Eruruu's lacks). The other (Rin) was chosen in spite of obvious inaccuracies for reform potential. The base material for both is polyester including the trim on Aruruu's costume, trim on Rin's costume is in satin, none of the pieces are lined. My partner paid 8,500 yen each (about US$70) plus shipping. Pros: The colors are lovely and very accurate. The Aruruu costume in particular looks pretty nice. It's a shame the trims aren't in more diverse fabrics like the Eruruu costume's were. The craftsmanship is solid and no materials on the main costumes seem to be reused/recycled (a problem I've had with other Chinese makers in the past). Everything looks as it was represented on the website. Shipping the 2nd time around was faster by about 2 weeks. We recieved a number of extra items that weren't included in the images on the website (hair ties for Aruruu and a ribbon for Rin). Cons: Slow-loading website. Overcomplicated ordering system that doesn't allow you to order costumes in multiple sizes in a single order and requires multiple email confirmations. Some costumes are inaccurate or frustratingly designed (the Gekokujo yukata sleeves are baffling). International shipping costs are a bit steep (1,500 yen). Costumes include tons of (not always necessary) pieces that can be difficult to keep track of and put on. The ears and tail with the Aruruu costume are laughably bad. We originally intended to remove them and go with our own anyway ~ but looking at coseyes' attempt is a laugh-riot. They're straggly, poorly placed and nowhere near accurate. Be advised that the tail, while easily removed, was originally sewn into the ribbon. Advice to coseyes would be not to include them at all! They really detract from the costume. The extra Rin ribbon we recieved for free is also a bit floppy and seems to have been made of reformed materials (evident from some staining/exposed wire). It's useable... but adds nothing in particular to the costume. Final Comments: One of the nicer Chinese factory dealers. They represent their items fairly, construct them extremely well, and include support-pieces that aren't necessarily visible in the costume images/descriptions. This time the ordering process was quicker but the final items had less pleasant surprises and some bedraggled mess support items. Their extremely dense ordering system and can make it quite difficult to complete transactions without Japanese proficiency and it takes quite a lot of time to send confirmations. Some costumes in their portfolio are lazily researched and most are at least a little bit inaccurate. You should compare images on the site with references to decide if a costume is accurate enough to be worth your time. Final Grade: A-

Name of Commissioner: Sundancekat
Website: http://www.sundancekat.net/ Character commissioned: Vivaldi/The Queen of Hearts from Heart no Kuni no Alice/Alice in the Country of Hearts. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: (note: the props were made myself) http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2570419/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2570418/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2570417/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2566304/ Timeline: Contacted her at the beginning of January. Paid the end of February. Received the end of April (deadline was the end of May). Describe your Experience: Cons: None Pros: Excellent and speedy communication.Well made costume, with incredible workmanship and attention to detail. Comments: This was my first time commissioning, and I feel that I really lucked out with Katrina. She was excellent about answering my questions and describing how she planned to approach the costume in detail before any money changed hands. Throughout the process she kept in contact with me, sending me progress pictures and incorporating any of my requests, such as sending me a swatch of the fabric so I could match a paint color for my props to it, and adding in details like hidden pockets. I received my costume in plenty of time for my convention - almost a month before my deadline, and each piece was carefully packaged. It fit me as if she had tailored it to my own body, rather than working from the provided measurements. I am so incredibly happy with how this costume turned out and received nothing but compliments at the recent convention I wore it to. I would definately commission Katrina again and would recommend her to anyone! Final Grade:A++

Website/C.com gallery: http://trekeagle1027.deviantart.com/ Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): FFX Lulu Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://damnwhiterabbit.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2ofbbk Timeline (how long your order took to process): about a month Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.: I specifically told her I wanted the color to be gray because Lulu's dress is not black like a lot of people seem to forget. I also told her that I wanted the right amount of belts and NO pleather. Well what I got was a black dress, lacking in belts made from pleather....in other words she bought it on eBay. At first I was confused as to why it wasn't what I wanted, but I decided to confront her later about it because we were at a con. When I tried it on it was much to big for me (a tell-tale sign that it was ebay bought) I had to be safety pinned into it. We figured out that it was store bought because my friend commissioned an Auron costume from her. While walking around we say the same exact costume about 5 more times, down to the material. Later he finds a manufacturers tag on it. To even further the proof her ex-boyfriend told us he can prove that she store bought the costumes. Her claim "I bought the patterns off ebay and the fabric from Malaysia." Yeah....right...Her DA is fairly new because she closed her old account due to people calling her out on her store bought handy work. Hey! Just wanted to note that carinachong/KIDS-charissa has yet ANOTHER name now, under http://myworld.ebay.com/charissa_kids/
This is assuming that it's the same seller and not an impersonator, but the feedback on their page seems to match up with the feedback here.

Name of Commissioner: Cyperous Wigs
Website: http://cyperous.com/english/ Commissioned Wigs: 1 Short Silver Styled Wig, 1 Long Silver Blue Wig with Bangs, 1 Short Styled Brown Wig. Links to Pictures: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2571215/ -- Silver Wig and Blue Wig. I'll have close up pictures of all three wigs sometime this week when my friend uploads them. Timeline: I placed the order on May 20th around midnight, and the next morning it was shipped. I got it the following Monday ! Their shipping was super fast ! Pros: EMS Shipping for their Worldwide customers and it has to be the fastest order I've ever recieved. @__@ Their wigs are super high quality and with my order came a free wig stand and three wig caps that matched the colour of the wigs. Cons: The website is Japanese, so you have to use this translating page when making an order, which can take quite a bit of time and looking over to make sure you got it right. Also, the brown wig came in more gingery then on the website and on the top of it, it was all fried like it had come in contact with heat. D: '' It was okay though, since the costume I needed it for I had a hat. Also, their wigs are SUPER SUPER EXPENSIVE ! But worth the price. Comments: Hands down the best wigs I've ever bought !! They feel like real hair and shipping was like I said, awesome. From now on, this is the place I'll be buying all my wigs from. Final Grade: A+.

Pros, Cons, Comments. so as everyone said, yes she starts off as a talker. don't trust anything she says. i asked for my wig to be ready by may, but still do not havi it. in the beginning i talked to her a lot on aim, not only about commision but just talked. she seemed so nice. but then she dissappeared. i emailed, called, watched her coscom status so i know she around. she emailed me back first time talking about hiring someone and that she sorry. i asked for pics but the camera was lost. then nothing for another month. she then emaiked me (past deadline), that she would refund and sorry and then if i still want a wig from her she will finish then ask for money. i said i want just the refund and she never responded again. my advice, dont ever go to catnipcookie pros: absolutely none cons: no contact, no refund, no pics, no wig, no service, horrible commisioner Final Grade: F-------------minus!

it would be helpful to the rest of the community if you can give us the name or acct of who you paid. Since they didn't contact you back and you have given them sufficient time to reply, it shouldn't be a problem to tell us who that person (possibly a scammer) is. If he/she was the real deal then he/she would have defended his/her integrity with at least an email.
Paypal dispute it, and do it fast because the arbitrator often looks at the timeframe of the transactions to make the right decision, but unfortunately you may not get everything back. |

She was amazing, she was very polite about all my questions and concerns regarding the finished wig she kept me informed on when my supplies she ordered where in and when she started it she sent progress pictures to both my email and my cosplay, com as well as sending me Final pictures when the wig was done, She was also very accommodating as to when i would be able to make the payments on the wig, The shipping very fast i received it within the week when she finished it, it was packed very nicely with a wig head and wig cap and business cards. I was AMAZED at how awesome the wig was and will most definitely be doing business with her again. ^^ Final Grade: A+ |

keitaro849, money can be kind of personal. People do include prices when they feel it's relevant to their reviews, and they're free to do so, but I think making it a basic part of the review application might be a tad inappropriate. Thanks for the thought, though, always glad to know how people think things may be improved.
Kitsoru, thanks tons, I hadn't realized that I'd had two entries for them in both the commission and merchant sections. SeraphimWolf, this would be a better inquiry for the Commissioners NOT to go to Thread, if it's still an issue; this kind of thing is their specialty. Everyone else, we're updated! |
