I used to weigh in around 180 at 5'10 that was about a year ago. i started walking everywhere and lifting weights just about every other day(i'd skip a few days if my muscles hurt or something) but now i'm at about 150 at 5'11...no working out doesn't make you taller i just stopped slouching lol. but i'm pretty proud of myself. if i find any pictures of a before i'll post up the progress

working out and lifting weights makes you wider which makes you look shorter in comparison, like skinny guys will look taller than buffer guys the same height if you don't compare them side by side, but maybe your hunching over like already mentioned? I really doubt it'll really make you shrink otherwise I'd be screwed =p
If anything it improved my posture and made me look a inch taller if anything, but balance is the key, like people who do nothing but benchpresses their shoulders will start to lean fowards giving bad posture habits.

To my knowledge, the only scientifically proven way that weightlifting could make you shorter is if you've somehow managed to damage your growth plates if you're still in a stage of growth.
However, it's far more likely that you would damage your growth plates playing a relatively physical sport such as soccer or football rather than weightlifting. As the people above have already mentioned, I'd think it's more likely that perhaps you have issues with your posture that certain lifting routines might have exacerbated or created in and of themselves or it's quite possibly nothing more than a perception issue where, like the guy directly above me noted, you might just think you're shorter because you've gotten wider but gained no real appreciable height to compensate for the width.

thanks, i will. Im trying to get into 189 division but running isnt my favourite thing to do :P , i wish my school offered a martial arts training program because to my knowlege there aren't any academys near where i live that offer it to teenagers. mostly just women and children.
