Hey guys! I've made some more progress on Sailor Moon! I made my back bow a few days ago and I just finished one of my glove puffs! I'm going to make the other one tomorrow, but I'm not sure what I should do after that. Would the collar be easier to do, or the skirt? I was kind of leaning towards the collar since I don't have the material to make my hip roll or shoulder armor for that matter. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Very nice! This is the first time I'm hearing it called glove puff heh.

I'd go with the collar for the next step. I hear that pleats are kind of tricky to get right, so wait until you can get a good grasp of making it from scratch.

The back bow is nice too.

I have a question for all the princess serenity cosplayers out there: What material did you use to make the dress? I was thinking casa satin, its really soft and not shiny at all, but I don't know if there's anything better

I don't really think satin is proper for Princess Serentiy. I think a flowy cotton (very light weight version) would be nicer and then a thin layer of chiffon or something that's just very airy and light.
But if you want satin, I would go with bridal satin. It's a good weight and I hear it doesn't wrinkle as much.

Also progress update!

Worked on Small Lady again today. :}
Fixed up the bottom layer skirt and made my back bow. Now I just need to make the top layer with my chiffon and buy beads and attach it all together. The bottom layer of the skirt is now hemmed better and even, and it doesn't show the pleating tracks up top. (I don't have photos, sorry)

Chiffon is such a flimsy fabric that I really don't like working with it, and even ironing doesn't help too much. So Small Lady is slowly coming along.
Also, need to start on Sailor Moon! I already have my fabric, gloves, and need to buy foam for the rolls and some lycra/swim material, and a leotard. To get started. (Leotard being the key portion so I can get accurate measurements). I also am planning on getting my brooch/choker/hair gems commissioned by the same person. :}

@Fabulousity, great job on your bows and gloves.

Thank you! The lady at joanns was pushing me towards satin, maybe she just wanted me out the store, since I was wandering around touching things. I was drawn to a cottony like fabric, but when I showed her my reference she was like 'satin!!' which is expensive.

(I realize cottony like isn't very descriptive... Sorry)

Casa Satin is stiff and holds folds and crinkles really well. If you want the skirt to be on the stiffer side, go with casa satin (which is not the same as real satin at all. real satin is very light and flowy). Otherwise cotton is a good alternative.

Wow, um, wow. I haven't been in this thread for weeks! Gomen! I've been really busy with having to do lots of College coursework/homework, also trying to finish off my Neo Queen Serenity cosplay and it's finished. I already went to my convention and had lots of fun! Only bought three things though and one of them included a Sailor Moon animation cel! (Always wanted one).
Well here's a selection of photos (there are more but some photographers haven't uploaded them yet and th eother ones I didn't like so much) so here's what I could find so far:

I hope you like it, it was a pain to make >.<

Thanks lol. But the dress seemed to slip down slightly because of the slight weight of the large bow. I nearly flashed some people in the food court with my bra ;_;
Also, careless people kept bashing into my wings so in some pictures they look a bit dodgy and are slightly ruined in some areas... The bottom of my dress frayed as hell (yes, I did hem it) and the fabric has bunched up and crinkled permanently in some areas, you can't see it since the dress folds over itself but still... All that hard work... If I wear this cosplay again then I think I will either re-do the wings, or become Princess Serenity.

Steffi you look awesome. Very much like a Queen.

I got my Sailor Moon wig in today. It is really static and the wig cap is small but I've been able to make it work. I only paid $50 for it and I'm really happy with what I got for that price.

The LOWEST setting your oven will do. Always best to do lower for longer esp if you have any thin parts. It's a bit like roasting meat -if you rush it on high temp it will cook on the extemities faster than the middle. I've seen some peoples sculpy things come out like burnt offerings. Like, Black!

tbh I haven't worked on it yet. (just been busy working on two costumes for the recent London Expo show..reminds me, must put pics up in my costume album here some time soon. ) But I'm going to re-use the main bodice from Mars cuz it makes so much sense. This time though I want to try for a pleated skirt. A friend is doing Saturn for London Expo Oct 2011 so that's when I am aiming to finish Plu for. ..Sorry it's such a long wait. :S
