As for this question (which I did not notice at first), it took me quite a while. Because I did not fully construct a new base out of foam (which is what I did for my personal headphones), I saved quite a bit of time. If we go with the estimate that each wing took three hours (which is probably underestimating but hey whateves) and assume that for an ordinary headset you would only make two wings, the totally time to make this particular headset would be 8 hours (6 for a couple wings and two for the base). When I made my own base though for my headphones, it was far more time consuming because I carved the foam to be the shape I wanted on the oustide while perfectly fitting the original headset on the inside (you can see a picture of my final product in my gallery--it's the one that lights up).
Basically, it takes a butt load of time.
However, my second technique to make the wings (the all plastic variation seen in the comparison shot) would probably take less than an hour to completely finish one wing.
