Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.) Princess Eclair armor

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Commissioned in middle March, deadline May 14, received May 18.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.

Pros: I got something.

Cons: They look like she did them in the last minute. The paint job looks worse in person and I don't know why it was made to look like a hair band. Hot glue can also be seen where she glued part of the armor on the band. No contact. The week before my deadline, I contacted her worrying that they wouldn't be done in time. I received a email a couple of days later saying that I would get pictured before they are sent out. My deadline passes and I send another email. No response that time. On may 18, I received a package from her with them. After opening, I sent another email saying that I wanted my money back as I I'm very unhappy with my commission. I also told her that I would send back the commission. Still no response.

Final Grade: D

So, after my previous experience with Cosplaywig, I decided to buy from there again... and they didn't disappoint this time either :3

Name of Merchant: Cosplaywig(eBay)
Website: http://stores.ebay.com/COSPLAY-WIG
Item purchased: 1x purple, curly wig: http://cgi.ebay.com/Wavy-36-MILKA-TA...#ht_2742wt_989
Links to picture(s) of your received item: None yet, but updating with them later
Timeline: Ordered on May 25, arrived today. So a little over one week, which is good from Hong Kong.
Describe your Experience:
Very good, for the most. The wig looks pretty much like the picture, so that's good... Though I haven't packed it out fully yet(waiting until I get another wig head/stand, so I have something to put it on), it feels pretty soft and nice, and it looks nice and good quality too. I also got it quickly, which is another pro about this place!
edit: I packed it out now, and it looks pretty nice and soft. The only thing is that it got a slight bit frizzy in places under transportation... but it can't really be seen from a distance anyway. However, the bad thing about this was the price... the price for the wig alone is okay, but with shipping it cost a bit more than I expected. Additionally, the ridiculously low customs limits of Norway ALSO added something to the price, but that's not really something then can help so... Other than that, it's all good, and seems to be worth the money anyway.
Pros: Fast shipping, good quality and accurate photos on website(color ect.), okay price on wig itself
Cons: Price
Final Grade: A

One Alois Trancy costume, including the ring, pants, shirt, vest, socks, boot covers, and coat.
No pictures yet, they will be uploaded after Metrocon
Confirmed order on May 23, received package on June 4. A little under two weeks. Which is AMAZING considering it was a custom size and it came from Hong Kong.
Pros~ GREAT communication and the girl running it is SUPER nice. She even sent me cute little gifts. :3 How quickly I got it is amazing too, I didn't even order express shipping! The quality of the costume is phenomenal as well, I'm super impressed.
Cons~ I thought it was a little pricey at first, but considering how fast it came and the quality I'm not upset at all.

Timeline: Around 2-3 weeks.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

Pro:

I have to say, I was satisfied with the outcome of this costume. The jacket fit great and the commissioner did as I told him, to make the white non-transparent. He also kept in contact with me very well, sometimes responding back to me on the same day; with progress pictures of course. I was a little surprised at the fact that he had shipped the costume via China mail but it did get to me quite fast and I was pleased nonetheless.

Con:

There was a very small stain on the white jacket. It was the first thing I saw but since it's very small, I'm willing to let it go. The pant's inseam was very long but I think it was my fault since I was unsure about the measurements I gave him.

Character commissioned: Princess Serenity wig

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Yay cellphone camera! http://www.flickr.com/photos/baltimo...57603297712951

Timeline: She put the wig up for sale around early January, I paid within 3 days, and got the wig less than a week later!

Pros: Very easy to deal with, fair pricing ($63!!) and very quick turnaround time.

Cons: Nothing.

Comments: Again, very easy to deal with, very fair pricing, and the quality of her work shows. The wig is very comfortable to wear, and it looks fantastic!

Commissioner: Naomi Cosplay

Website Gallery: http://www.naomicosplay.com/cosplay.htm

Character commissioned and Series: Kraft Lawrence (Spice & Wolf). Full costume minus wig.

Links to Pictures: http://www.naomicosplay.com/wip/kraft/

Timeline: 3-20-2011 to 5-24-2011

Pros:
Excellent comunication
Very good about dealing with questions concerns throughout the process
Willing to have items sent in to be modified
Fast replies (I never waited more than 48 hours for a response)
Provides tracking number with finished costume.

Cons:
None that I can discern.

Comments: This was my first commission, and I have to say, I could not have picked a better site if I tried. Naomi Cosplay was very professional, and met the deadline for when I needed the costume and beat it by a couple of days. If I ever need another costume, I will definitely use them again, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...nt=serah-1.jpg

Timeline: Ordered on May 23, 2011 received on June 4, 2011

Pros: I said I needed it by june 25th because my other seller said they couldn’t and they easily got it to me well before deadline.
Costume was good quality and fit perfectly.

cons: If the skirt was just a tad bit bigger I’m pretty sure it would fall off but it still fits nicely, I like how its around the hips instead of on my waist.

Changed grade on an old old old review (Angie). From a C to a D.

Once I realized upon an epiphany several months later... she charged me for materials I told her not to buy. What the hell.

Timeline: Ordered in April 6 and got it around June 3 2011.
Describe your Experience: Good, he answered my questions.
Pros: good quality items. Items were well packaged.

Cons: The next month in may I emailed them like four times telling them I needed the Tunic before the end of the month after emailing them the foruth time and telling them i was going to pull my money from paypal they finally emailed me back and told me what was going on, I told them they needed to be better at getting back to people before they go about telling them they want there money back. That was my only trouble with them.
Comments: He's friendly, I enjoyed working with them.

Character commissioned and series/video game: Lucrecia from Dirge of Cerberus (Wig)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: There are none since I received none and the item was never finished (if it was ever started at all).
Timeline (how long your order took to process) I sent her money around December 27th (after telling her about what I wanted a while before Christmas). The convention I needed it for was at the very end of May (Fanime). I wanted it done around April, just so I could have it in advance.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:
Pros: She was nice at first, and she told me (before I even agreed to paying her and also after it turned out that the wig wouldn't be done in time) that she would refund me the money I paid her if I didn't like it.
Cons:That whole refund thing? Still hasn't happened. I have sent her links to my paypal account multiple times and she has yet to pay me back and has stopped responding to me. Know why I need the refund? Because it was never finished. On January 21st, she said it would be done in a week or two. A month later, I contacted her again (she was never the one to contact me first) and I asked for photos. She said she'd send some son (never did) and that the wig was giving her trouble and she was going in for surgery and had been in a car accident (from what I can tell, I think this is true). March 30th, she offered a refund and I was trying to look for another commissioner. On April 11th, she told me to set up the paypal and that she'd have it within a week. That's the last I've heard from her, and I've sent her links on Cosplay.com, email reminders from paypal, and I'm about to start spamming her DA.
Final Grade: F-, and apparently she does commissions for things like plushies and photoshop. I wouldn't take commissions from her for ANYTHING

Name of Commissioner: D-JENN/shoshanna2003
Website/C.com gallery: http://www.etsy.com/shop/shoshanna2003
Character commissioned and series/video game Aaeru from Simoun- her Sibylla pilot outfit. Basic outfit was commissioned, not wig or boots. Outfit included: jacket, bottoms, white shirt, and pink skirt.
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...t/IMG_8456.jpg and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...t/IMG_8458.jpg
Timeline (how long your order took to process): From agreement on 3/18/11 to received on 6/9/11. I merely wanted the costume in the beginning of June.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. I first placed an ad for this costume in the marketplace specifically requesting someone that was skilled in faux leather/vinyl type materials, as it was necessary for the jacket. D-JENN responded first and though she had no feedback here, her etsy account had plenty of feedback for the clothing she made and custom outfits she had designed. She was more than happy to send me examples of costumes using this particular type of material.

Once I decided to go with her, I sent payment and measurements. She made sure to ask questions about anything necessary, and then things went quiet for a few weeks. I did not expect her to start on my costume right away, but she easily did the shirt and skirt. For the shirt, she communicated with me about the triangles around the collar and the possible issues they presented, ie fraying if not done right. She decided to do them separately and then attach to the collar so that this issue wouldn't occur. By the end of May, she said the rest was finished and took pictures. I spotted that she hadn't done the gloves for the left hand. She asked if it was okay for her to keep the outfit and finish the gloves because she would need more material. I told her no problem.

She had the costume finished by the beginning of June and shipped it off to me. There were issues with UPS because she had sent it signature required, so they wouldn't leave it unless I was here. I'm a teacher, so that was difficult, but I finally got my costume in the end, and she said she wouldn't do signature in the future if it was my request.

Pulling the costume out of the box, there are many pieces. The skirt, shirt, jacket, dark blue pants, and then separate leggings with suspender ends. The right sleeve of the jacket is not attached and then the glove piece for the left arm is also not attached. Everything is lined and appears well stitched. My favorite part was the leggings with the suspender straps. She had followed the settai I had sent her, which had the character design. The suspender strap is meant to attach to the bra in the artwork, and she did just that, which made me very pleased. You'll notice the light blue color on the jacket is different on my costume because she simply could not find that color. I've seen costumes that have used this darker version, so it was okay by me.

The only flaw the outfit had was that on the left glove, the pinkie finger is sewn too small and cuts off circulation. I mentioned this to her yesterday and she's redoing that part, free of charge. She simply made sure of my deadline for needing the outfit. It's not a terrible thing because one can simply pull up on that part of the glove when not needing it for photos.

I'm definitely using this commissioner again for another outfit of this character's in the future. She met and exceeded my expectations and was well worth the cost. It was a complete difference from past experiences. She was always in contact and double checking things. If you're on a budget, she's probably not the commissioner for you. She's not a cheap commissioner by far. I knew this upfront, and was more than happy to pay to get the costume I'd wanted for the longest time. If you're looking for someone specializing in these fabrics, she's definitely one to go to.
Final Grade: A, only because of the left glove or it'd be A+

Foxas

Name of Commissioner : Foxas

Website/C.com gallery : Foxas I wont be giving her deviantart, unless someone PM-ed me.

Character commissioned and series/video game : Esther Blanchett White Nun version, WHOLE (Accessories and shipping) except wigs and boots.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item : none...

Timeline (how long your order took to process) : From what I remembered it was about May 4-5th to June 1st, then to June 8th, then to nothing.

Pros? : She's nice at communicating. She replies every 30 minutes to 1hour when I was about to commission her. But slow in respond after getting your money.. About 1-2 msg per day, to 1 msg every 3-4 days then 1 msg every week, then nothing...

Cons? : No costume? She couldn't finish the costume in time, according to her it didn't dry off as fast as she thought it would be. Then she hardly replies...

Comments : It's for A-Kon 2011, June 10th

After seeing the time frame, I'm pretty sure there are many good commissioners out there can't make this costume by the time frame. But it was different with Foxas. She told me she could make it, even I, as the commissionee, worried about her not able to finish the costume.

Yes, finally, she couldn't finish the costume in time. The dead line was originally 1st June, but she asked for 3-4th June after having gotten my first payment. Yes, I agreed to have postponed it to that, because I know it's not easy to have that done within the time frame. However, on 3-4th June, her message was that it's " coming along great"? So what happened with shipping it on that day?
No answer.
8th June, one more reply, saying that she couldn't make it in time because the silk screening isn't dryin off as fast as she thought it should..
Initially, I don't mind her not able to make it for me for my convention, however, the problem lies with her communication. I admit, I am part to blame because I was constantly emailing her asking for progress pics (which she PROMISED to show me before I paid) by the deadline, I started worrying and the emails to her are getting more frequent.. from 1 email per 3-4 days, to 1 email a day as it reached 8th June.

She has no reply even after I have opened a dispute in Paypal. I am expecting the refund back. I opened the dispute, about June 9th (if i'm not wrong) but she has no reply at all..

I am not even sure if she had really done my costume. I personally do not really mind if she made it and is gonna ship the costume to me, but the problem is she NEVER answers me at all.. I was trying to be nice telling her that I wouldn't wan the costume to be wasted just because she can't make it in time... but no, I can't get a hold of her, which is really problematic.. I couldn't let this delayed any longer than 45 days because by then I wont be able to get my refunds back..

She may or may not reply to this, but I have got all the PMs and Emails proof that if she was to deny of what I have said, I will definitely post up the emails and PMs..

To Foxas, if you ever read this review, if you would like me to change it, I could, please reply me.. (and no more missing packages which I heard from other ppl that commissioned from you. That is, I wished that you would use USPS with confirmation number to send the package to me, which I really do hope it's not lost somewhere in middle of United States of America. )

Editted ( June 22nd) - She is still not sending the costume, however I got the refund. which is good.. she also suggested that i could pay her again if i like the costume after seeing the progress pics she said she'd send to me.. soon..

Final Grade:

D+
I am not saying that she's a scammer, she probably isn't ( I hope), but this is what happened to me... ) She's just not the commissioner I'll considered in the future at all..

I guess I am just bad luck (reallllly bad luck) with lookin for commissioners..

Name of Commissioner: CapsuleCorp

Website/C.com gallery: http://www.strangelandcostumes.com/

Character commissioned and series/video game:
Jessica Rabbit from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" The commission was for the dress only. The gloves, shoes, etc. were bought from ebay/store.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None currently. I will add a link when my pictures are uploaded.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): From late March until June 8th. It probably would have been faster, but I had a computer virus for several weeks, and was unable to respond to her emails. This, in turn, delayed progress on the dress.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: This was my first time ever hiring a commissioner, and CapsuleCorp made this an absolutely fantastic experience! She was very professional and extremely friendly the entire time! There were some complications on my part, and never once did she lose her cool. She took everything in stride and always had an awesome attitude. After agreeing to make the dress, she typed up a contract for both of us to sign, which I find as a good sign when commissioning a project. She was always very quick to answer my emails (within a day's time). To make sure the dress would fit properly, she made a muslin mockup and shipped it to me, along with detailed instructions on how to adjust it (if needed). Even with a last-minute time crunch, she managed to complete the dress and get it to me before I left for the con. The dress is beautiful! I love it! I'm trying to think of any cons, but there honestly are NONE!

Final Grade: A+++++
She's my go-to commissioner from now on! I would recommend her to anyone!

Name of Merchant: JENNIFER cosplay

Website: http://stores.ebay.ca/JENNIFER-CosPlay-Costumes-Wigs

Item purchased
: 1 Len Kagamine wig, 1 Rin Kagamine wig

Links to picture(s) of your received item
:
Len wig (in natural lighting)
Rin wig (also in natural lighting)

(lol and please excuse my expressions and messy bathroom
alsooo, the len pic shown above was after I styled it...yeah forgot to take pictures before aha)

Timeline: Wigs came a day or two after the approximate time, which wasn't such a big deal because I wasn't in a hurry to receive them.

Pros: Both wigs look exactly like the picture given. I love love love the Rin wig because it's really light (in comparison to Len's, but that's expected). Though the color isn't very natural looking, it's not super bright yellow or anything, which is good.

Cons: None that I can think of. The only thing is that I had to style it and cut the bangs, but that's a given because almost all wigs are bought unstyled. The Len's wig was already in a ponytail though, which was good.

On a side note, do NOT untie the ponytail on Len's wig! Or any wig with a ponytail already, in that case.
Absolute chaos and a pain in the butt to retie it again and again.

Comments: Personally, I would buy a lighter, more natural and blonde wig, but the blame is on my part, not the seller's. It was exactly as written and I would (and actually just placed another order a while back) definitely buy from them again.

Final Grade: A+
