Ha, your costume would make me simultaneously super happy (I love high elves!) and angry (ugh, hate the Thalmor). But, either way would be an awesome costume.

On a somewhat related note, I think the elven armor would be fun to make too. It's very LotR-y.

The bad guys always have the greatest costumes.

Anyways, I'd like some suggestions. So, I have about 1.5 - 2 yds of a rough weave dark brown wool leftover from a pirate coat I made for a friend. It's too raw looking to go with most of what I usually like to make or design, but I definitely remember seeing some armor or etc from Skyrim that call for just this Lind of fabric. Any suggestions while I try and probably fail to jog my memory?

Hm...sort of drawing a blank. Do you remember if it was armor or clothing? If it was armor you might want to check out this video, it's got like...well, it doesn't have robes sadly, but it does have a lot of the armor.

Aela would be awesome! Love the face paint and the Ancient Nord armor is really cool. Hope if you do make it that you post some progress pics in here :> Vault 101 is great too, and hey, definitely more covered up if you think you'll be cold :P
D: Ah sorry! I didn't mean for it to sound like, "Hay there are other threads DUH!!" I'm happy there is now one big Elder Scrolls thread. <3

I will definitely post progress photos. I just remembered I have extra brown faux suede in my closet, so I'll be using that her the base of her outfit instead of leather. Yay closet finds. hahaha

How perfect! Love those kinds of finds. I'm currently eagerly awaiting some leather samples I ordered, gotta see which one is going to work best. Eee! So funny, the things we get excited about as costumers. Scraps of leather, yeah!

I also found this post with a bunch of pics of robes and cilvilian clothes. The master mage robes may be suited to the fabric I have

My boyfriend and I are doing our own characters from Skyrim.
He's making a Morokei dragon priest mask. He's skulpted it out of terracotta but it's cracked a lot since drying.

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7...3463425410.jpg

We might make a mold of it and make a lighter, sturdier mask out of it.
His character is a Khajiit so I'm thinking we may make a latex Khajiit face for him, but we will see.
He'll be making a blade of woe as well but he's taking his time on getting started.

I'll be a High Elf mage. I've bought latex elf ears. Also I'll be altering a monk costume to become some Master Destruction Robes.

So far the only thing I've made is my Daedric quiver.

I'd love to make a nightingale bow but I currently can't. If you could tell me how you make yours I'd love that!

I will be making a staff though. Similar to this http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls..._Fireballs.jpg
I'll be making it from a bamboo stick.

I've started the robes, and now I'm trying to decide which staff to make. I'm a little nervous, as I have little expereince with props, and so many of them are so elaborate!

@RingoDeathStarr You sound like you're making some really awesome stuff! The quiver looks nice, I can't wait to see the rest of the things you're doing. And yay high elves Though my main is a wood elf, don't see too much love for them though. Even I'm going as a dark elf :P Ah well. I suppose I could switch it up if I don't feel like painting my face one day or something.

@alpha_helix That link is awesome! Thanks for posting that here.

I'm new to prop making too! It's fun, though. I did make my staff for Merrill (on my project page) and am currently making my nightingale bow (@RingoDeathStarr for this too). I'm making that out of expanding foam and carving it (there are progress pics on my profile), and so far it's not turning out too bad at all, though some of the shapes I feel like...don't quite match exactly? I'll have to do some tweaking but I plan on paper mache-ing it later so I can smooth out weirdness then.

TL;DR if you pick a staff you want to make, I bet we can all help you figure out the best way to make it :>

I think I'm going to do the Sanguine Rose staff. I know how to make silk flowers, so the most complicated part I can handle, also since it's supposed to look natural and planty it doesnt have to be perfect XD

I've been an Elder Scrolls fan for longer than I've been cosplaying, so of course I'm going to cosplay from it! I'm going to do Novice Mage Dovahkiin, and then I'll see from there.

@toughtink: OMG me too! Or a Spriggin.

@alpha_helix: I'm also making Master robes of destruction! Are you using a pattern? If so which one? I'm looking around for one.

@Mekarah: Is expanding foam sturdy? That's always my main worry when making props because I bump into a lot of stuff. Dx But the bow looks great!

I wouldn't worry about the shapes not being perfect. They're kind of odd. Like the lower spiral on the actual bow looks more like a riddler question mark and the top spiral is more leaf shaped.

I wish I had Skyrim on PC so I could take some great screen shots for costumes.
