I don't take prescription medication, especially not painkillers and absolutely not codeine. Sucked when I had my wisdom teeth out.
Something confrontational is happening in the kitchen downstairs. I went down there to show Mom something and the three of them looked at me like, "Go back to your internet and be quiet about it." I just hope they're quiet after 11... I'm going to bed early tonight. |

I agree with the general consensus. I'd rather have some bone pain than sit around having fever dreams and hoping to vomiting so that the dizzy feeling goes away for a bit.

FUN STORY TIME ABOUT MEDICINE. Now I know that I have your attention..let us begin.
When my mother and I lived in Shreveport she ended up stubbing her toe against the bottom of the door. Hard. She was limping and in pain for two weeks before going into the doctor and finding out she sprained her toe, but by then it was already healing. The doctor gave her a prescription for vicodin, she got it filled and left it in the bag. She flat out refused to take it and ended up getting it solely for if someone at home got in an accident and needed pain relief immediately, such as if she somehow stubbed her toe again so hard it sprained. My mother has an unopened bag of vicodin laying around her house. Just for an emergency. Welcome to the family Emmers. As for myself about the only thing I would take regularly are for my allergies, they become so bad it's debilitating. I've had weeks on end where my ears are so congested I am getting vertigo and everything is all echo-y. I have begun taking a vitamin supplement because i have bad ankles :/

This is totally one of those posts where you can go "Maybe you should start." and make someone feel odd about themselves

I usually don't take prescription painkillers but my skin was falling off. I don't think an ibuprofen was going to help.
The best part was Monday, when I asked for an ibuprofen or a Tylenol and they could only offer me Vicodin because the doctor hadnt put in orders for anything else. I had an ear ache (because I also had an ear infection). Vicodin was overkill, so I didn't take it.

And to think that we're only born a day apart. Proof positive that astrology is for shit.

Whenever I've been prescribed pain-killers, I take them and it kills the pain. That's pretty much it.

Oh, medication talk? Weee. Yah, I'm like PD in that I'm so sensitive/so barely linked with reality already, I pretty much take virtually no intoxicants and see no appeal in them either for recreational use. I rarely take tylenol or pain meds, almost never drink (and when I do, it's pretty much ONE one-ounce cocktail) and don't do any drugs or smoking, or caffeine. And I usually try my herbal medicines for smaller ailments before I go to the stronger chemical drugs (yannow. Stuff like some peppermint tea to see if it'll settle a queasy stomach before trying gravol, some lavender oil on my pillow if I'm too stressed to sleep instead of a valium, raw honey before trying cough syrup, etc.).

The extent of my own experience with drugs can be seen to the left, between my avatar and username.
And also several years of being prescribed anti-biotics and (ultimately) isotretinoin. And various hayfever remedies (my favorite generic medication's loratadine, but that seems to be being phased out).
