Is playing music considered a skit?

I'm going to do a cosplay (possibly for Manifest) and I might go enter the competition; I wanted to know if playing music (with instruments on stage) can be considered a skit. For example, a K-On group playing music together.

Actually... is it even possible to bring in amplifiers and things on stage??

Thanks

It really depends on the convention you go to. Some will say yes others will say no. You have to go to the convention's website and look at their contest rules to see if you can. If you can't find anything about performing with instruments, contact them via e-mail or phone to see if you can perform or not. That's the only way you are going to know if you can perform.

Check the convention's masquerade/contest rules and if it's not clear, email the director and staff and ask.

The majority of time, though, the answer to bringing amps on stage and playing music is no. The kind of time needed for an instrument setup and teardown wastes too much of the masquerade's precious, budgeted time.
