Shirts & Fabric Paint

I want to paint my basic yellow tank top, but I want to make sure the lines are accurate and specific, not blotchy and jagged.

I need to do Pikachu's backside

I was thinking of using tape to outline the areas I wana paint so there is a smooth line, but it might be hard to shape it even if I draw with pencil lines the exact area I want to paint.

Suggestions?

(Also, if it's just much easier to sew it on with brown fabric I might opt for that...however, I don't have a sewing machine so it'd take forever!)

This is perfect for freezer paper. Its wax paper with only one side waxed, so its easy to draw on and cut out what you want for a pattern then iron it to the fabric.

practice, practice, practice. every technique, no matter how simple, is improved by doing a test on scrap at the very least. I still do tests on scraps, even if it's a technique I'm very familiar with, just so I know exactly how it will work on my specific project.
