add lights to a body suit?

So im in the process of trying to figure out how to make my new cosplay, Rena sayers in her robe outfit from Mai-otome. I want mines to light up just like in this video i found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meBAX...eature=related

How do I go about doing that? I dont know much about led lights or anything. Where you see hers lights up in the video is where I want mines to light up. basicly i want her neckline, headban, both wrist and ankles, and the line of her boobs to light up.

As I understand it, what you want is "3-wire chasing LED rope light", combined with a portable controller that allows DC input so it can be battery powered. I don't know if this exists. She may have a 120V extension cord dangling off of her costume to get this effect.

The rope light, with proper connectors allows you to cut it to any length you want, and then imbed it in the costume. You wire it up to complete the circuit, set the controller to "chase" mode, and power, and your in business.

Can LED rope light be cut? You think that I would have to have an controller for each light then? that seems so much trouble. I want to be able to minimize how many controllers I have.

Also how hot does LED ropes usually get? I was thinking about using soft foam to form the outline of where I want the LED ropes to go or should I not use foam?

a normal string can be cut np
and you can cut them the advanced ones too
as long a you can spot the paralleled lines
(would need pic of wiring to be sure but normally you can)

and you could wire them all to one batttpac/controller
but thats a bit of a rant
(let verdatum do that bit lol)

and off the shelf LEDs dont get hot not even warm
assuming all your wiring is insulated of course
dont want those wires cutting the faom

LED ribbons

If you can find a good elecrtonics store.not Radio shack,, like this place here in Quebec they have this in 1 meter or 5 meter rolls..

with the 12volt controler and IR remote.... i am preping a light saber with 5 meter length of RGB it can be cut in shorter length also... only on the cut marks... needs 4 wires to work one for each color and one for ground.

and http://www.mgelectro.com/en/Accessories/0303.aspx

Also some of these places can have it to

led heat!

AS for the heat produced by led ribbons it is minimal... i have a 5 foot section under my office desk at home which is on 27/7 an it is barely warm to the touch...
since it works on low voltage the electrocution factor in non existant..except if you short out the battrie.. than the battrie can burn up spark or explode!!

with a small 12volt batpack or 8AA or 10AA rechargables a length of 25feet will last for 8 hours!!! may be more!

ill try this week with what i have...
