Review: Lancome Teint Idole Foundation

Name of Product: Lancome Teint Idole Foundation
Where Purchased: Any store where Lancome products are sold, department stores, Sephora and such.
Product Description: A rather large jar of foundation that will last you for a long time if you know how to work it correctly.

Pros: The foundation is very comfortable. When I wear it, my skin can breathe. The container states that it lasts for 14 hours without reapplying, but that's not entirely possible. You'll need to blot after about hour 5, and do some reapplying on other areas around hour 10. At hour 14, it won't look fresh anymore, but your skin won't look shiny, which is good. You can touch your face SOME and you should be fine. It has an almost silk-like touch to it, but it's very natural and doesn't have this horribly powdery look to it. It has a very natural look and extremely good coverage, and you shouldn't worry too much about breaking out. I'm a black woman that falls midway in the color spectrum for black women, and I normally have difficulty finding adequate foundation. If you know where to look and if you know what to use, this should actually work very well. Just know how to blend properly, because if you don't, it will show. If you have redness, this should take care of it. This goes on with a matte finish, and it photographs beautifully. It can also act as a primer for eyeshadow. If you have oily skin, this will remain matte the entire time you wear it.

Also, you shouldn't break out. I have sensitive skin and I break out at the slightest provocation, and I've been using this since 2010. Haven't had a single problem.

Be sure to apply this with a brush. Do not apply it with your fingers, because it will not look good.

If you swear by Michelle Phan's makeup tutorials, this is the brand that she uses.

Cons: This foundation does not come in a lot of colors. If you're a lucky black woman like me and if you can find something, congratulations. If not, keep looking. There are only 11 shades in this particular collection.

Also, do not use this foundation ONLY if you are cosplaying for a couple of conventions. Unless you are extremely anal about your costume or unless you plan on using this as your primary foundation, or unless you plan on going to several cons and wearing this, be very careful. While it lasts a long time, it is a Lancome product - which means that it is a high-end luxury product and it will hit your pocket...hard. Because one of my closest friends is a Lancome manager/consultant, I managed to get a sale/gift with purchase. I still paid around $50 after taxes for the foundation. On the Sephora website, it is listed as being $44 before taxes and shipping costs. With that said, this is, hands down, the best foundation that I've had the luxury of purchasing.

For those that want to use Lancome foundation without having to truly purchase the expensive container of foundation, go to a counter and see if they can give you a sample. The Sample is very long-lasting, and it's FREE.

Overall Rating: 8/10
Coverage - 8/10
Skin Care - 8/10
Face Comfort - 10/10
Naturalness - 10/10
Shade Variation - 5/10
Pricing - 2/10 (for the average con-goer, 8/10 for a person who uses it for more than just cons)

Just a tip for anyone on here who enjoys Lancome products (or Clinique and Estee Lauder): twice a year the department store chain called Bon-Ton (or Herbergers, Younkers, Carsons, etc) have a sale called the Goodwill sale. You can take an extra 15% off of EACH cosmetic item you purchase if you donate as many items to Goodwill (i.e. bring in 3 items, get 3 coupons for 3 products for 15% each). Lancome is always in Gift With Purchase during the sale, and I've gotten tons of product for quite a discount. They have a website you can order on if you don't have a store in your area (as long as you know what shade, product, and everything else you need).

Just a tip for people interested in this product. Hope it's okay to put that in here.

Thank you for including that! The biggest thing with people and Lancome products is negotiating down the price.
