4eyedlunatic has an electric boiler and I have one of those asian water boilers.

I'd like to bring some homemade Earl Grey cookies. <3 And perhaps some other exotic teas from Central Market.

What are we using to hold/drink our tea?

kittyandjam--Sorry. My choices on time were really, really limited given that I'm covering the convention as press/podcast, and I didn't want to interfere with the banner events (cosplay contest, concert, dance, etc).

4eyedlunatic--to be honest, I'm not sure what they allow in the convention center! I know that there are electric sockets hidden in places because the Exhibit Area uses them; I'm just not sure exactly where the power is without a grid diagram. Might be worth it to call the front desk and ask them--I can't imagine they'd be against it as long as you are careful and take safety precautions. Basically, they just don't want you lighting the hotel on fire.

Redbudinthesky--for the moment, it will be the hotel's plastic cups unless people want to bring their own materials. I do ask that people are VERY careful with those or bring something with a lid so that we don't spill on people's cosplays. I have some empty water bottles I can bring, just not that many since I'm bringing a ton of other stuff for the convention. I'm tempted to get some apple juice for work and bring those bottles since they're very sturdy.

People are welcome to bring the teas and snacks they like! I appreciate it.

I was just looking at the schedule & realized I'll be in the Plus Sized Cosplay Panel & Fashion Show from 6:15 to 7:45.

Regarding the location, the cosplay photo room (Pearl 4) will be "closed" at 6:30. I know we held an event (started out as the Bleach Zanpakutō shoot & morphed into snack time with Zanpakutōpoly) there after it was closed a couple of years ago.

Awww, sorry BOM! My podcast compatriot will be at that same panel, actually. I have no clue how long the tea meetup will last--until people get tired, I suppose.

I'll check in with the staff about the photo room. As long as they don't lock it, we might be able to use it.

Note: because I have been told signs of any kind are not allowed, I will take my 7ft light stand and hang a tea cup from it with twine. That's how you'll know where I am (aside from me being in an Athena cosplay with purple hair and a white dress).

Sounds like a good way to signal folks! I got the stuff to bake the brownies today before I left work, so I will be making those Wednesday night before I leave Thursday morning. The trick will be keeping my friends out of them!

Yep. I'll have Pepperidge Farm shortbread cookies and a few bottles of Snapple peach tea.

I told my brother's girlfriend about the tea party (this will be her first A-kon) and she thought it was so cute and funny that people have cosplay tea parties. But she said if she's still in cosplay by then she will come. Though she probably won't be because her costume is Alice Liddel's Steamdress from Alice Madness Returns and it's quite intricate and heavy.

No worries. I'm not going to kick people out for not being in cosplay--I'm not the fashion police nor should I have to be--but the purpose of this is to gather cosplayers together. It's not required to be in character or anything, but that would be kinda funny.

Awesomeness. I will probably see if any of my other crew wants to come. Three of us will still be in steampunk, but who knows, I might be bringing a number of fun folks^^
