I have the material's for Twilight's gala dress. I bought a Disney pattern that has Snow White and Cinderella. It looks like I can make the Cinderella dress (with a few adjustments) and use Snow White's collar.

So I just started working on a design for a Fluttershy costume...and I'm not going to lie...seeing people in MLP:FiM cosplay at Emerald City Comicon is part of the reason I started watching the show in the first place...plus I REALLY want a cosplay with a tail (tehehe ) My question for you guys...for those of you that used a tail with your costumes...what did you use...I'm currently thinking of just using a normal wig, but I'm VERY open for suggestions.

I've debated on it, my biggest concern was whether I would get the volume I really wanted. I'm in absolutely no hurry, I don't even know where I will even wear it yet. maybe by the time comes around MLP will be so big they just sell tails on ebay or something lol. I have wigs, wefts, and pony tail clips I can play with and I can always see what I like best.

I have seen ribbons used that looked cute
Try strips of foam sheets or strips of fabric

by binding them for about an inch or two up and attacking it you will get a bit more height and fullness

I'm planning on doing humanized Princess Cadance from the royal wedding for SacAnime Summer 2012. I will be in her wedding dress I have everything except the wig, horn, ears and wings. I ordered my wig for Twilight Sparkle, and I have my bodice and skirt pieces cut from the fabric. I still need to make the collar. Cutting out stars is becoming a major pain in the behind. I can't get two pieces the same size (I was going to sew interfacing between two pieces for the neck star) or get the points right. Maybe I'll use cardboard instead of interfacing.

If you can't find one that is specifically made for the character. I would find one in that pink color that most of her hair is in and just add wefts in different colors. It might be more expensive and more time consuming but I would thing that you could probably get it just how you want it that way.

well I do have a person that could style a wig for me though and I'm sure she could dye the wig to the colors of Cadance's mane. Another option is to have it up like the picture with the vale. I think the mane would be easier if it was styled like in the picture.

I would talk to your friend and see if she has any ideas for you, it would work best in your interest since that way you can work with someone to get exactly what you want. But I don't see any reason why you couldn't style a wig into the little up-do she has...I just seriously doubt you will be able to find one pre-styled

Righty-o everypony, I need some help deciding which of these 3 dresses to get for a fluttershy gijinka please X3 I would sew myself, but I fail at ruffles TT^TT

This dress, I was thinking of taking the buttons off and replacing them with butterfly buttons painted the same as her cutie mark, and dying the dress pastel yellow.

This dress would also be dyed pastel yellow, but I was thinking either a cutie mark necklace or iron on transfer/patch...

And finally, this dress. I was thinking keep the colour, but maybe add little butterflies around either the sleeves or bottom ruffle.

I like the first one the best...but on the same hand that would mean more money and time put into it (plus I like the idea of cutie mark buttons) but the 2nd one was really cute too...especially if you don't mind the shorter dress, I would just be a little careful with that since it is flowy and flowy short dresses definately have a mind of their own.

I'd go with either the first or third choice. Lolita just works so well for Fluttershy, but the short one may be too short.

My Twilight Sparkle wig has shipped. I just hope I can get the costume finished for Metrocon. I should really take advantage of this reduced work schedule and get sewing...unless my roommate's ferret utterly destroys everything. He stomped across my pattern and burrowed into the interfacing I was trying to cut. No more working on the floor when he's loose.

Thanks for the help peeps :3 I've decided to go with the first dress, seems a bit more challenging, both to dye and make the buttons. I'll probably buy the third one just to wear as a backup though hahaha, I have a serious weakness for lolita style dresses. I'll put photo's up once it's finished for sure X3
