was crossplaying but its a story i have to share
i was at school for halloween and we had a costume contest during lunch. all of the fellow anime club people stated who they were then what anime the were from then the person hosting it said all the names once again. I was sasori. The dude hosting it said kisame. How does sasori look ANYTHING like kisame?! kisame is blue, has fish gills, a giant sword, and blue hair! I was wearing this bright red wig!! I think he might have been colour blind. |

Well this one's not bad compared to some I've read on here, but...
Okay, at MEWcon (a new con in my area that's on New Year's) I crossplayed as Shippuuden Sasuke. The first day my mom *would not* let me open bind, so I used an ACE bandage and a flesh-colored T-shirt. That day went fine, but at the end of it my ribs were *so* sore. The next day neither of my parents were at home, so I decided to open bind. That went fine as well...until a guy who I'd met the day before (and had asked me out actually) showed up. He had discovered my weakness the day before: tickling. I got tickled SO MUCH that day, to the point of rolling around on the floor trying to escape, as my kimono pretty much came off. Also, the squirming around I did caused the tape to do weird things, with the result that when I got home I had quite a bit of skin loss. Ouch. But hey, I guess it worked on me, 'cause I did date him for as month. xD But yeah, this next con I'm going with my (current) boyfriend, who understands my problem with tickling, so I should be a little safer. ![]() |

OOOHHH OHH I GOT ONE!!!!!
On con I was crossplaying as Selphie from Kingdom hearts (FF8) I decided that I was going to wear my Girlfriends corset in order to have a more womanly figure for the character. That was painful enough on the first place me and a couple people got bored and decided that we were going to play jump rope with my prop. Over time more and more people came and wanted to join in on the jump roping fun it soon turned into a ‘Who can jump rope the most.’ Since it was my rope I felt that I should be the winner in the end and I faced off against every challenger there was. As time progresses it was getting harder and harder to breath. Finally the last competitor was FREAKISHLY GOOD and set the record just above my last one. And before I gave up I decided to try and challenge that, I wasn’t going down with out a fight. I jumped and finally beat the record of 197 jumps by one and then promptly proceeded to pass out. When I finally woke up again, all my friends we around me and worried asking if I was alright. Right after that my girlfriend told me that he beat my score while I was passes out. IT SUCKED. HA HA -- So moral of the story don’t do anything to strenuous while constricting your self. BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN.

Although I loved cosplaying Reita last year, I had a slight problem. When I bound down, the binding would roll up (thanks XL sized body). So my mom who was chaperoning last year suggested I just walk around with out it. I did.
The entire day was horrible. Not only did I feel naked without a bra or covering of some sort over my boobs, they were dangling and uncomfortable. I was freezing and thank god for my jacket otherwise most people would've noticed. I tried my best to ignore it and I could after getting some people to recognize who my friends and I were, but come dinner that night with some friends I sat at a table with majority guys. I sat into the table just to avoid them staring at my chest and personal comfort to hide my embarassment to be walking around without something to hide or protect my chest. |

Bad idea - but you probably know this already. If you have big breasts, you can always use a sports bra under the binding to avoid this from happening (or perhaps consider a compression shirt). Walking around without a bra can actually end up being rather painful for a long time afterwards, if you have big/heavy breasts, on top of being really uncomfortable.

This didn't happen to me, but my friends and i were at a local con and one of my friends (who is a guy) crossplayed as Osaka from Azumanga Daioh. So me and 2 of my friends were sitting in the hallway waiting for him. So finally, he comes up to us and apparently, he got taken out of the guys bathroom by security. Although, he was practicing his Osaka voice the day before so he sounded like a girl. But it was funny.

Luckily this didn't happen at a con but I'd bought some ACE bandages and was testing them out and the clippy thing that holds them together was like a freaking claw. I was wearing it for about 10 minutes when it started slipping a bit and the teeth from the clip was scratching me and it was excruciatingly painful and I couldn't get the thing off fast enough. Then the teeth on the clip broke...

Eh, my horror story isn't as bad as a bunch of the ones I saw on here, although I do have two of them I would like to share, both of which were at the same con.
I believe it was Anime Banzai 2009 when this happened. I was planning to crossplay as Makoto from Street Fighter III. Keep in mind, I didn't have the expendable funds for cosplay, so this was quite rare for me to cosplay since when I go to cons, I normally don't cosplay due to not having the money. Anyways, trying to crossplay as Makoto when you're a guy without any money and without any help from "female supervision", I had to come up with a solution myself. The "accessory" I used as fake boobage (water balloons) broke when I was on the way to the bathroom to get dressed (I was planning to get dressed when we got to the con since I can't bare to show off the crossplay to my parents when they have no idea I'm doing this), gushing out water all over the floor. Good thing those bathrooms have those drains on the floor to manage flooded toilets, so it was an easy clean-up. As for the bag I was using to carry everything, it got drenched, aside from the clothing I was using for the crossplay (I used the Gi when I did Aikido in High School). Ashamed, I just dried off the bag as best as I could, went back to the car we drove in and placed it in the trunk. I still wore my Aikido Gi, but the effect felt off without the boobage. Now for part 2, this happened after about 2 hours of walking around the con, checking out all of the panels and such. My group decided to take a break in one of the foyer's. One of my buddies was messing around with another cosplayer, which lead to the point of getting chased by him with an empty airsoft rifle. I went in to join in on the action, but somehow my brain shut off on me in mid-dash and I stepped down on my left ankle, spraining it badly. At that moment, I just told my brother (he's the one who drove the car) that we needed to go home so I can get it taken care of. It wasn't the first time this has happened, but sure was the first time during a con

I have only crossplayed once as I prefer being my normal girly self, but two years ago, my friends begged me to cosplay as America from Hetalia because they were doing a panel at a con and their America had dropped out last minute. I agreed and made up the costume in two weeks or so, but I remembered once I got to the con that he wore glasses. So I ran to the nearest pharmacy and grabbed a pair like his, but the problem was that I couldn't SEE while wearing them because I am near-sighted. whoops. I tended to have them slid down on the bridge of my nose so I didn't have to look through them. I kept lamenting about how I couldn't see and it eventually became a running gag that Texas was seceding from America, so in the end it wasn't so bad. :]

less of a crossplay horror story and more of a general con downer, but i was in crossplay when it happened
naka-kon this year, kuroshitsuji photo shoot. i was sebastian and one of my friends was ciel. of course there were a million sebastians and ceils, so my friend and i did some variations. i looked like a regular sebastian but i had a cat plushie pinned to my shoulder, my friend was an ega (instead of egl/boystyle) ciel. not only did people act like they didn't know who we were, we were the only two cosplayers there who were excluded from the full group shots. we were really unhappy, especially since one of our other friends who was a really good undertaker didn't even notice that we were left standing off to the side. i won't be wearing that cosplay to any more large cons

This isn't exactly a crossplay experience, but it is a mistaken gender experience. Whenever I wear my Len Kagamine cosplay out, everybody thinks I'm a girl crossplaying Len, or sometimes even a girl cosplaying Rin. It's funny more than anything. But anyway, it was the London MCM Expo Octber 2011 (a twice yearly convention, the biggest in the UK), and I was sat down with my good friend Ezio Auditore, and we were opening and looking at some Transformers figures we had jsut bought. At this point, a girl cosplaying Maka from Soul Eater comes up to us and starts talking to my friend. She knows him, and is talking to him and using his first name (which I wont post on here) and what have you. She asks him a question, he doesn't know the answer, but I do and answer her. To which she replies to me; "Wait! You're not a girl?!". I just sort of smile awkwardly, and she say bye to my friend and walks off. I turn to my friend and ask him who that was, to which he replies; "I don't know, never seen her before in my life."

On the 31st of Dec last year I crossplayed as N. Italy to work. I got some seriously evil looks from one of my least favourite customers, who said to my boss that he shouldn't be hiring young boys to work in pharmacy. He just laughed, 'cause my boss is the bomb. He even gave me permission to wear another costume for Halloween (even though Australia's kinda meh about the whole Halloween thing). Then there was the time I COSplayed as Princess Ai, and got mistaken for a guy dressing like a girl. My bewbs are real

well my first (and till now the only) crossplay experience was...more funny than worse..
I crossplayed Komachi Onozuka (Touhou Project) and...I was so scared about the thoughts of others, a friend thought I would cry every moment. Anyway when I walked out of the apartment on the way to the tram, dressed and with make-up, a guy jumped out of nowhere and made me a marriage proposal, even twice! He even knew I was a guy, but that wouldn't matter, he said. I rejected him twice...sorry for that guy... Anyway later on the convention I still had my glasses on so I went to the male bathroom to put on my contacts. First guy comes in..leaves immediately...comes in again and mumbles "This is the right bathroom, isn't it?", and goes to the toilets. Later another guy comes in, stops, asks "This is the male bathroom, right?" the first guy comes out of the toilet and means "Yeah I was confused too..." It's interesting, how a nice dress with a farthingale can distract guys... (btw: I hope I didn't destroy jokes, cause I had to translate everything from german to english and I like to do mistakes) |

First time I wrapped, I didn't know how to do it properly. Plus, the con was in New Orleans. In August. AND I was in a suit. So, I was miserable and nearly passed out numerous times. I ended up taking the binding off. But I've learned!
