Con Bravo Attendees?

Hey! So I was wondering if anyone was attending Con Bravo and if you are cosplaying and who you are cosplaying as. I would totally want pictures with all of you! I will be going as Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach (soul reaper and school) and Yowane Haku (Voyakiloid/vocaloid). Is this a good convention though? I am not very sure. Got any opinions on ConBravo I would love to see what you think about it!

I would also like to hear some opinions about this con since it's my first year going. So far, I've heard very mixed reviews.

I'll definitely be there on Saturday, cosplaying Calintz from Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata. I want to do masquerade, but I have to leave the night of to get back to Toronto, so... lol, we'll see. @__@

I did a report for ConBravo after I attended last year! http://zeekayart.deviantart.com/jour...port-245909321
I'm really excited to go this year because they are learning more every year and are really trying to improve the con. I also really don't want to miss the bad fanfiction panel omg.

But yeah, the only issues I had were with how the artist alley was set up, but they're changing that for this year! So I'm super stoked !

DEFFFFF not going anymore. I was going to go and try and go with a media pass but its harder to get a pass at conbravo then Anime North. I really wanted to go for toycollector.com they loved my Anime north photos and report and really watched me to go to this con but no go!

I'll be going for the whole weekend. Ichigo from Bleach in his fullbring/shinigami outfit and the classic version of Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden. Might bring my MK9 Sub Zero too. I do know for sure that I do wanna cosplay Ryu when I goto meet the AVGN (and get my NES copy of Ninja Gaiden signed).

I've been going to ConBravo since the first year two years ago. It's just awesome. It's a fairly intimate Convention, it's only one hotel building, but it's awesome cause there's just pure air conditioning, and very little walking distance. There's plenty of panels and discussions, in fact this year, I'm running three of them, and the improv group the 404s are hilarious, and there's tons of game shows, and this year it's three days instead of two!

I'll be cosplaying Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2, and on the days the panel is on, Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon.

I'm going this year ^.^ I'll be parked behind Con-G's promo table for a lot of the weekend, so people should come by and say Hi! Not sure what I'll be wearing, I'm really hoping I get my costume done that I had to put aside for AN *fingers crossed* Then I can enter the masq as well *fingers crossed again* Not sure what other costumes I'm bringing this year.

I had a lot of fun last year, even if I was manning two tables and didn't stay overnight in the hotel. I'm very impressed at the scale and organization of this con - it's only what year 3? It seemed to me everyone had a great time too. I did have fun when I piggy backed a Sora in my Guilmon costume and crashed a couple of panels with a congaline :P teh heh

As a fellow con-runner I totally understand the need for stricter media passes - anyone can say they do a bit piece on a con and get a free pass. The reason cons give out Media passes is to advertise their convention, which is the need for rules and if you are smaller con, some rules may be stricter simply because they don't want to give away passes to people that it won't benefit the convention.

Not saying this is the case with you, but just some food for thought

Thumbs up Thumbs up to Con Bravo

ConBravo is an excellent and well run mid-sized convention focusing largely on anime, cosplay, and gaming.

What can you expect at ConBravo?

Although it has many of the events you may have come to expect from attending a megacon such as Anime North or a industry show such as FanExpo Canada,( e.g. The Masquerade), ConBravo also has many events you may not have an opportunity to engage in elsewhere, (e.g. last year they had "Troll Ball").

In fact one of the strengths of this convention is the fact that everything is more intimate and accessible. You don't have to walk a huge convention centre or from building to building to get to events. The guests are easily accessible and willing to talk, give advice, and hack around one on one. There are more participatory events not just huge ones where you can only watch.

How do I enjoy this convention?

Only you know what you personally like, but I highly recommend both checking the website now for details on general events, open gaming and gaming tournaments, cosplay events and panels, etc. Most importantly as soon as you get to the convention CRACK YOUR PROGRAM BOOK AND HAVE A READ. Spend 15 minutes with your friends and a highlighter planning your day. <---(This is helpful for any convention. I never understand people who claim "there is nothing to do" at a convention, when usually I find I can't do everything I want to.)

Here are a few samples of the cool things I"ll probably be checking out when I'm not busy with guest duties:

Quote:
Red Shirts vs. Klingons

Will your be the hunter or the hunted? In this game of geeky flag-tag, competitors split off around the con carrying their signature colours and compete in mini-games to determine who wins the battle. At the end of the day, the teams are tallied and a victor declared. Red shirts must survive, Klingons must bring home the spoils of war. We’ll see who comes out on top.
Quote:
Live Action Mario Party

A party unlike any else, LAMP brings all the fun of the console game into real life. Packed with mini-games like “Excuse Me, Princess!”, “Crab Walk Relay”, “Super Gals Face-Off”, and the ever-popular “Musical Chairs”, LAMP has been a fan favourite from the start, and it’s only getting bigger and better as time goes on

Quote:
The Masquerade

You think you’ve got what it takes to be a Pokémon Master Masquerade Winner? Well enter your costume and come try! One of the biggest events all weekend long, coming to you on the Saturday night of the con! Yes, just before the dance, you’re not going to miss out on that, so quit worrying already! We’ve got this!
(Duh!)

Quote:
Freeplay Tables

We have an ever-increasing selection of board games and plenty of free stations to play them at. If there’s a board game you really like, chances are we have it to play, so bring some friends and get your game on!

I challenge you all to Settlers of Catan!

Anyhow ConBravo is a really nice old school style convention with new media influences. It's a great place to hang with your friends, cosplay, buy stuff, and do some fun crazy stuff,(probably everything you were hoping MTAC would be and it wasn't!).

Come out, even if its just for the day. (And don't forget there's a dance Saturday night so tell mum and dad not to wait up!)

Cheers!

Hello, I will be doing my Espada Orihime dress version (Rendition of Orihime from Bleach's Hueco Mundo outfit), Szayel Aporro Granz's final release form from Bleach, and who knows... Depends on time... I can bring my C2 from Code Geass R2 back as long as I remake the belts..

100% Going on Saturday as Rin Kagamine ,Alluring Secret Black Vow version. I'll be a Len going with the same song cosplay, and not completely sure but I might have a LIW Miku tagging along too (If she officially decides to go) . If I have a chance , I can try to go for the other days in cosplay (If I do, most likely will be going as Miyuki Takara) .

I love this con ; ;
