contemplating this scythe
So I'm cosplaying Celty Sturluson and Date Masamune soon enough but I'm contemplating whether or not I should make Celty's scythe. How important is it to the costume?
And if I do make it, what should I make it out of? o n o;; |

I see a lot of Celty's without a scythe c: However it would add a lot to your costume, so if you have money left over then I'd say go ahead and make it!
I'd use either insulation foam or expanding foam (which can be carved) for the blade, and some form of perhaps PVC pipe for the handle? There's a good general scythe tutorial here - http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=113812 And these show some progress shots and information that another Celty cosplayer has posted from the making of her scythe - http://saiyaka.wordpress.com/2010/05...empt-durarara/ http://saiyaka.wordpress.com/2010/05...empt-durarara/ http://saiyaka.wordpress.com/2010/05...ding-durarara/ http://saiyaka.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/scythe-done/ If you do use insulation foam, make sure you prime it before painting! |
