I've done it. Not much for a while. And I nearly flunked out of college once because MUSH-ing was more fun than going to classes. That was, in itself, an educational experience.

I used to write for a few smaller sites, but I don't do that terribly often any more. Mostly I write with a handful of good friends of mine over our various messengers, which might be script-style or in full paragraphs.

THIS. THIS THIS. I don't even know if we're talking about the same sort of people, but for me it was the inevitable metastasizing case of angstcancer. Self-centered angstcancer that can't write/plot/cope for beans.

I encountered it as a student. I don't know how it came to be. Perhaps it was just a construct of a mad troll, or perhaps...either way, it all started on a dark, slightly windy winter morn' when I'd just finished my only lecture of the day and was just sipping a slowly cooling coffee...wait, that's a film noir. Sorry.

Well, anyway; I was in an RP that was going OK enough when an annoying little worm showed up. At first it just seemed to be a normal noob RPer, acting "random", trying to godmod, and such. Everyone just assumed he (or she, although given their, female, character "he" was a good bet) would grow out of it.

As the days passed, the worm grew more eloquent, let the shift key rest a bit and so on and so forth. The problem was, they didn't stop. Their prose got so bloody purple and their writing so pretentious I nearly bailed out just to avoid it. I stayed hoping that they'd tone it down (and because they weren't being that disruptive to the overall thread) and...they did.

After about two weeks of first contact, another one showed up and they became a mated pair. Literally. The entire RP thread ended up being turned into pages and pages of their (again, female) characters having sex. In the end, I bailed out and so did everyone else. The barnacle was so ugly the whole thread died. And the RP was a zombie. The End!

I do from time to time. Involved in one now that I regret joining. The majority of this group supports a non-canon pairing, which is cool. Except, the players so enjoy this pairing that one of the RPers doing one of the characters has made her character appear overly obsessed with the other. Then of course, there was the new rule this week that we could add in characters to play in other groups in this world, as long as they didn't interact with the main group. This would be cool, except they only did it to get their fangirl on. I dread to see what they come up with next.

I quickly dropped forum RP like a rock because the same three people always godmodded any semblance of plot, intrigue or character development out of "their" story, plus not being in realtime, it was weird as hell.

So, my RP of choice is small groups over IM. I do both sci-fi and fantasy (the fantasy one's now had a three-part arc that's gone on for over a year, plus two spinoffs...)

I role-play often, normally with my girlfriend but at times people will ask if I want to role-play with them so i'll join. Like recently where my girlfriend invited me to join her Avengers Role-play group as Bruce. Also....er, I role-play almost every day and proof is in my gmail/live chats history with perhaps 1566+ role-plays that have accumulated since 2007 ^^U

See, I usually gather like-minded people to branch off of an idea, usually something non-canon and can't be butchered horribly.
Like the site I opened up is loosely based off of a book series called "The A Circuit," focusing on the lives and times of junior equestrians. However, I plot-twisted to beat the annoying, entitled bitchyness that people tend to accumulate after roleplaying for so long.
Mainly, I'm doing it to jump-start my response to the authors' series, since one of the authors is an acquaintance of mine and I'm determined to 1-UP her.
