What's a good way to get my all of my hair up in a wig. (without a wig cap hopefully)

I have really long hair. It comes down a little bit past the smallest part of my waist. (Also, I'm 5' 10" ^^; )

Anywho! I tend to have difficulties getting all of my hair into my wigs. =/

Normally, I get a lot of help from wig caps, but lately, I've been getting horrible headaches from wearing them. I'm guessing the wig caps are too tight around my head and there's not circulation.

If there's something else I could do or something that could at least help me get up all my hair, that would be lovely. ^^;

Thanks for help! and sorry this question is kind of stupid or noob-ish. (even though I've been cosplaying for two and a half years now. ahaha.)

Pin curling your hair as such is a way I saw recommended to a few long haired girls to fit it under the wig cap (using bobby pins instead). Also i recommend trying a net cap as opposed to the nylon ones because they are a lot more relaxed on your head are generally better at catching the little hairs.

With that much hair, your best bet would be to keep using one. I never wear them myself, but I don't have long hair (and when I did it was only 24" at the longest, so not difficult to put up without a cap. I just needed bendy-clips, gel and hairspray to keep it in place.) Anyway, I suggest trying to pre-stretch your cap out before wearing it so it doesn't cause a headache. It should be easily, just literally stretch it out til it's loosened enough to sit comfy. Also, for actual styling techniques, look up pincurls; they work pretty well for evenly distributing your hair. I've also heard of Heidi-style braids (wrapped around your head like you see on European women in old films sometimes) being handy if you have a lot of hair.

I have almost the same amount of hair and I pin curl the hell out of it. With pin curls, I can get all of my hair evenly distributed enough to wear an extremely short wig and not have any odd lumps or anything.
The way I learned how to pin curls is a bit different than what Spaz linked, but you should experiment with different methods to find what is easiest for you or what works best for your hair.

Braid it and pin it on top of your head. If it's a wavy/curly wig, you might get away with holding it all on your head and getting an ally to help put the wig cap on.

I guess I don't notice headaches, or it might be the fact that I cut the really tight bit off then pin the hell out of the wig cap.

Buy a mesh cap or make a wig cap from an old pair tights. I find them much looser than most store-bought wig caps and never get headaches.

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll be sure to try some of those. ^^,

I've currently been using a net wig cap. I've had nylon ones and those don't seem to give me as bad as a headache, but the stretching them out thing seems like a good idea!

I used to get really bad headaches every time I wore my wig and I thought it was the wig but after I got a new wig with a different wig cap, I stopped getting headaches. So just get a looser wig cap.

My hair is waist-length. I'm not 5'10", but my hair is pretty thick. I use nylon wig caps and I try to get my hair in multiple braids and pin them in a way that distributes the bulk. (I haven't tried pin curls so can't vouch for it. It's one of those things I keep meaning to try but never end up having the time to experiment.)

Another quick option is if you have a long wig and/or high collar, you can put your hair in a braid, tuck it down the back of your costume, and then fasten the wig adjustment straps under the braid to anchor the back of the wig down. It can get annoying though if you end up having a bunch of little flyaway hairs over the course of the day.

But also, really big improvement? Using bigger wigs. I used to get really bad wig headaches, and most wigs ended up sitting too high on my head anyway. New Look wigs barely fit me even when I tucked a braid down the back of my costume. A friend pointed me to Arda Wigs last year so I gave them a try on account that their wigs were larger, and the experience was seriously like night and day.

I was going going to recommend new wigs with larger sizes as it was never the wig caps stretched that gave me headaches but the too small wigs on my large head. Arda Wig are the largest I've tried bu ti think Kukkii-san uses ones from Europe brand that is larger as well.
