Skyward Sword Cosplay Help

Okay, I'm sure this is a very silly question, and I'm sorry to bother you with it. ^^ So, I'm in the process of sewing Link's tunic, and everything is going fine, until I get to the neckline. I suppose I'm a novice, but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get his neckline to work. It seems to be an impossible shape with no stitches showing. I wouldn't mind having stitches show, but I'm not sure how I should go about tackling this problem.

This is the neckline I'm talking about; http://i47.tinypic.com/2r3jz1v.png

It is probably painfully obvious, and I'm sure I sound very silly in asking. ^^; I've been looking up tutorials, but none seem to have this weird shape that I can easily figure out. I'm probably thinking too hard.

Thank you so much!

It's basically a T-tunic with a keyhole neck, like what Vikings wore. Try searching for tutorials on making T-tunics or keyhole necklines, though some of the neckline tutorials deal with a more rounded version, which is not what you want (you want the type that's just a slash). Hope this at least leads you to something helpful! Good luck!
