Name of Commissioner: Limebarb.com / Barbara Staples
Website/C.com gallery: limebarb.com Character commissioned and series/video game: Makoto from Blazblue. Full costume. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Not available Timeline (how long your order took to process): November of 2011 - June of 2012 Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.: PROS: Quick response during the month of November. It arrived just a few days after the deadline. CONS: After paying the lump sum of the costume at the end of November, she stopped responding to me. The parts looked either rushed through or lazy attempt. COMMENTS: At the end of November, I paid $483.00 all at once and our conversations came to a sudden halt right after. I called and left numerous voice mails and she never responded back. Also, when paying and agreeing to terms, her website suppose to keep a progress report of work and I never received any information on that. I admit, I started to worry after months went by and I heard nothing from here, therefore my last email was asking for a refund. Several weeks went by and I then filed a BBB report. She responded through BBB and finally gave me the information for the website that holds a progress report of my costume... and it wasn't even near completed. I tried keeping up contact with her and she once more stopped responding, which lead me into filing a report with Chicago's attorney general. She finished the costume by the agreed date of June, but the outfit looked so horrible I trashed it. I'll give her this; the outside of the clothes looked wonderful, but the insides were terrible. The boots were made of some type of rubber boots that had a sawed off top that rubbed against my ankles and cut my skin. The golden tips had dents and scratch marks. The stockings were perfect. The skirt was good, but the golden buckles were made of some type of paint that easily rubbed off and the sewing of the buckles and straps came undone the moment I tried to put it on... I had to resew it. The top was a few inches too short and the buttons on the front were made of the same paint which rubbed off onto the top and couldn't be scrub off without messing up the top's material. The stitching for the zipper in the front was also bad and had to be redone. The gloves were given a nice padding, but when I put the gloves on, the stitching that kept the padding on came undone and had to be redone and the finger holes themselves were too tight to put on. The finger lengths were also different lengths. The whole outfit in itself was 3 shades of orange as well. The shoes were a darker shade and shiny material, the skirt was the lightest orange and while the inside of top had a cotton material, the skirt did not and stuck to my skin the moment I stood at the window in the sun while trying the suit on. While I think I spaced out the timing of contacting BBB and the attorney general, she has sent me a lettering saying I harassed and attacked her. She also tried to say she only made the outfit based on the measurements I gave her... yet when I saw how horrible the suit was, I trashed it and sent the same measurements to another and it fit me exactly and for even less than half price. I advise no one to do business with her. Final Grade: F -

Ebay Store Character commissioned and series/video game: Maka Albarn's Scythe [Soul Eater] (Prop) Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://i.imgur.com/wYI1c.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ctQ1K.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dpoEL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t029y.jpg Timeline (how long your order took to process): July 21st [ordered] - July 30th [received] Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I'm cosplay Maka Albarn at Aki Con this fall, and I wanted to go all the way and have the scythe as well. I was planning on making the scythe, but the cost for materials was much too high. I was then browsing ebay and found this product, which is much cheaper than it would have cost to make. It look great- much better than the other available props on ebay/amazon. So I messaged him on facebook inquiring about the materials of the scythe. He responded very quickly- within a day. He was very friendly and answered all the questions I had. Feeling at ease, I ordered the product. The next day the status of my scythe was shipped (I figured he had it in stock already) and I eagerly awaited its arrival. The earliest expect delivery date was July 30th- today. I received it quite fast! I love this scythe. It's exactly what I saw in the picture (and the video of it on youtube), and it's even sturdier than I expected! When he said he used fiber board, I was expecting a very delicate weapon, but it is as durable as plywood! It's well made and exactly what I wanted. The only minor complaint I have is that the paint job on the staff is a bit uneven, but it's not noticeable unless you really look. Very happy with what I got, and I would certainy buy a prop from him in the future! Final Grade: A

Website/C.com gallery: http://s567.photobucket.com/albums/s...lay/?start=all Character commissioned and series/video game: Makoto from Blazblue. Everything but tail and ears. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...89131820_n.jpg Timeline: I received it in a few weeks after sending emails back and forth on quotes, images, and ect. Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. PROS: He responded same day and answered any questions I had. He usually doesn't show progress photos, but after explaining my trouble of a past commissioner, he had no problem sending me every step and altering the fabric. CONS: My only problem was the finger part of the gloves being too tight. COMMENTS: I contacted JDscosplay after doing better research on commissioners and everything went smooth and fast. There wasn't a day that went by we didn't talk and he only charged me $315 which included shipping and insurance. He finished the suit and it arrived within 3 weeks. My only problem was the gloves, since I couldn't wear them but everything else was amazing. His attention to detail was wonderful and he managed to make this complex suit settle on me exactly as Makoto's. Final Grade: A+

Name of Commissioner: Wig Fever on Ebay
Website/C.com gallery: http://myworld.ebay.com/wigfever/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Short Dark Pink Hair Wig 11425 Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: When I wear it I will post them. Timeline (how long your order took to process): June 12- June 20th Paid- $26 for the wig and $2 extra for some wig caps. Shipping included. Cons: None. The color was a little more dark pink than the photo but I'm not complaining at all. Pros: This was my first time buying a wig and my exerpience was great. I was looking for getting the wig commisioned but it was a little bit too high for me at the moment so I set out to find a wig that cost a little less but could be styled. I was a little bit wary of ebay sellers but it had good reviews so I bought the wig. I then turned around and bought a wig stand from a differnt ebay seller. The shipping of the wig was supposed to take longer than the stand but to my surprize it arrived a week before the estimated arrival date and go there before my stand. The wig is so soft and silky, plus it detangles easy. Despite the color I am so thrilled. Also, when you order, a tracking number is included with shipping. Final Grade: A+++ I highly recomend this ebay wig seller. It arrives quick and the wigs are of really nice quality

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Juvia from Fairy Tale - full costume, without the boots. She offered to paint the boots for me, but I wanted to use the boots again in the future so I declined the offer. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...55647126_n.jpg Timeline (how long your order took to process): I believe I contacted her around March to see if she was free for commissioning. I needed it by August so I told her she had plenty of time to work on it. She started in June (after school ended) and finished in about two weeks. I was pretty happy she didn't wait until the last minute! I had time to look over my costume and make sure it fit properly. Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. This is actually my first cosplay, so I was a bit worried about buying an outfit online, especially if it were made from some Chinese company and my measurements were wrong. Plus shipping would be ridiculous, so I tried commissioning with someone in the neighborhood (in the US was good enough for me). so, Pro: shipping wasn't crazy expensive. But that has nothing to do with the outfit. The costume itself was really great - exactly what I asked for (Juvia's manga version of the outfit, with a shorter skirt) and it was all adjustable in case something happened to fit me incorrectly. I do have to take in the vest a LITTLE bit, but otherwise the size fits perfectly. As for the details, my favorite part of the outfit is the hand-painted waves on the skirt, as well as the construction of the hat, which I was worried would look weird because of the shape. Well, it doesn't look weird. Also I was worried about coloring, because when I looked at other Juvia cosplays on the web I'd see all these different shades of blue. I honestly had nothing to be worried about, because she picked the perfect shade of blue. I think it also helped a lot that she was a Fairy Tale fan ![]() Cons: None. I guess it would be better if it were free...unfortunately life doesn't work like that. I will definitely contact her again for future projects. Just as a note, I'm an extremely picky person and wanted my cosplay to be spot-on (minus the skirt length). I wouldn't give such a lengthy review nor would I praise the commissioner this much if I didn't actually mean it. I'll even recommend her to a few of my friends! Final Grade: A+ |

Character commissioned and series/video game: Juvia from Fairy Tail. Everything but the boots. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...55647126_n.jpg Timeline (how long your order took to process): I contacted her early March and needed it by August, so I told her to take her time if needed. She started in June for school reasons, and finished in two weeks. The costume was done two months earlier than the deadline. Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: PROS: She's a Fairy Tale fan. She is also fast, efficient, and detail oriented. I'm especially happy with the hand-painted waves on the skirt, as well as the way she made the hat. I was worried because the hat in the manga is a pretty awkward shape, but she pulled it off just fine. Another thing I was worried about was the color. She really managed to get the perfect shade of blue, which was very important to me because I wanted the costume to be as close to the real thing as possible. Other than me requesting a shorter skirt, I'd say it's pretty exact! She was also very friendly and easy to get hold of, and replied within hours to any of my questions. She also told me straight up how she was going to make the costume when I first contacted her, which is really great if I had any objections beforehand. Oh, and can't forget - she lives in the US so I didn't have to pay 50 dollars for shipping from China. That's a big plus for me. That and speaking English. Cons: none. But seriously, I'm a very picky person and, for paying around $200 dollars, expected my costume to be made a certain way - and I was very happy with the results. I think she did a wonderful job and I'm even planning on recommending her to my friends. It was a pleasure working with her, and I hope this helps you all pick your commissioners! Final Grade: A+ |

Name of merchant: muchbuy-com
Website: http://myworld.ebay.com/muchbuy-com/...id=p4340.l2559 Item purchased: New Fashion Long Orange wig Photos of item: Here is the seller's photo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Fashion-... em45ffe9913f and here photos of what I got: http://photobucket.com/albums/tt255/...s12/orange wig Time it took: one week Experience: this wig is just awful! I thought since this seller had a high seller feedback of positives I'd give them a shot. From the photos of what I got, there so many things wrong. First off the wig cap is loosely sewed to the hair, there's lots of empty spots, wig cap has a big hole right inside it,it started shedding the moment I opened the bag. What's worst is that at first this wig was $5 when I first bought it but the seller up the price to $55 and I had to pay $50 just so I'd get the wig. This wig ain't worth the $55 I spent on it. This seller has some other colors of this wig but I strongly advise you not to buy any of them! I'm right now seeking my money back for it but they argue that it's my problem and there's no defects on it. Look at those picture I'm pretty sure a full wig not suppose have a big hole in it,ripping on the ends of the wig cap,and shedding everywhere. Also you can creaky see the stitching of this wig on the top. I'd have to wear a hat just to cover up the awful things with this wig...if it stops shedding Final Grade: F

Website/C.com gallery: http://www.cosplay.com/member/302825 / http://www.facebook.com/Fate.cosplay Character commissioned and series/video game: Cheren from Pokemon (jacket and shirt only) Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Click here to see! Timeline: I first contacted her around the end of June, and I received my commission about 1 month later at the end of July at Otakon. So about a month. Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: This was certainly one of the best commissioners I have dealt with to date! She kept in great contact with me throughout the whole thing, both with email and text messages which was nice. She also gave me updates on the progress whenever I asked for reassurance that it would be completed on time and provided photos. She even waited around for me at the con itself to pick up my things from her which is a plus. The two pieces I had commissioned were great in the end. They fit nicely and looked just like the reference photos that I provided her with. It is great quality and I can see it lasting me a while. She did a great job and I would totally recommend her if you need something commissioned, there are no cons that I can think of. A very nice commissioner! Final Grade: A |

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Purchased 7/23, arrived today, 8/7. Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: Pros: Great quality, perfect size, actual boots that are much better than wearing boot covers! Very nice and accurate to the character. Cons: Lighter than pictured (which actually turned out to be a pro since they were too dark as pictured), slight scratch in one area but it's not even visible, so that's just me being nit-picky. The shipping cost was also really high, but it was alright. Comments: The boots are made of vinyl, which is very interesting, but looks very nice. The commissioner asked for the measurement of the largest part of my calf, which isn't usual but made the boot fit perfectly. The heel is a bit too high but it still looks nice anyway! Communication wasn't really required much but they did tell me when they received the measurements for the boots and started working on them immediately. Final Grade: A! I can't wait to wear these with the rest of the costume.
