Kissing poses

How?! I've obviously kissed my boyfriend plenty of times before, but how does one go about making a photo look good doing so? We're about to do a photo shoot this weekend as Snow and Serah on the beach and I couldn't be more excited, but I'm worried about camera angels and looking silly. Do you just kiss and hold it? Or kiss like you would in any real life situation (IE, multiple times and hope a good shot comes off?)

Curious!

My suggestion; Try capturing the tension just before the kiss for posed kissing scenes.

I've done this once. The biggest part will come with the kissing party, simplest suggestion is to go at it and don't be stiff. Let your photog take a bunch of shots while your in the moment. In surf's second post is a great angle to work with if your shooter brings a step stole. Angles will play a good role as I've rarely seen any straight on shots look too good.

As a Newbie Photographer, I'd have to go with "spur of the moment" for the answer when dealing with kisses. Kisses always look weird to me if the two models have no attachment to themselves, or its just "another silly request". The perfect kissing picture is going to include emotion, and something intense or even passionate. So, if you plan to do some with your boyfriend, just let it be spontaneous or find the perfect moment to do it and let the photographer do their best in capturing it. It's hard to explain, but what I find is that looking through such pictures helps, like for me these:

http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...ernovadobe.jpg
http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...ku-d555w2a.jpg
Just a few examples of good references for "kiss" scenes, and i'll add like Skuggi angle helps shots as well, namely if you have no access to editing software.

I don't know that much about kissing. I haven't had my first kiss actually but that's not the point. I heard that there is a thing called a stage kiss where you get kissing distance close to them but you put your thumb over their lip. So I heard anyway.

Well Hope that helps.

I have the same question as above, but I don't want to make another thread.

However, the above advice won't work for me because I would be kissing my best friend, not a boyfriend. I can act, but I'm still not sure what the best way to shoot a kiss would be. (Especially since the photoshoot kiss would be my first kiss)

You could try stage kissing as Yukora-Chan said. I haven't had my first kiss either, but I've done a few stage kisses. The guy holds the girl's face in his hands with his thumbs over her lips and pretty much just kisses his thumbs. OR I think forehead kisses are sweet and a lot of the time turn out really nice in pictures.

This is just my personal opinion, but it's actually quite hard to stage an actual kiss for a photograph without looking a bit derp due to the positioning of the mouths etc - I agree with Surfsama that an almost-kiss often looks better for a photo than an actual kiss. (This actually solves your problem as well DazzlexMe).

Here are a few pictures of me doing an almost-kiss shot with one of my friends:
http://fav.me/d48t3qz
http://fav.me/d2w4hn5
http://fav.me/d45ol2w
(These are older photos and when I look back at them I think "we should've leaned in closer!" but you get the general idea).

We've also done a sultry-ish prior-to-kiss shot: like http://fav.me/d3btkhy

For these kinds of shots I don't think it matters whether or not you've ever kissed someone before, because I was doing kiss shots like these even before I had my first kiss. In the end both parties are pretty much like actors in a role and your aim is to bring that emotion out. You want to look at the photo in the end and even without the lips touching you can tell that the kiss is there, if you get what I mean.

If you're hoping to do a photo of an actual kiss, then I recommend a very soft kiss (it's obviously entirely possible to do this even if you want a very high-tension passionate scene, because you can still convey that passion through your body language and pose), simply because I've seen a lot of actual kiss cosplay photos and the mouths eagerly mashing together don't look that flattering ... at all.

Just my two cents!

I think we want to avoid a stage kiss, because you'll be able to tell.

We're trying to reinact this scene from Glee:

@Harmony But I think you're right. I was kinda of opting for a softer kiss instead. (My parents are professional photographers but they won't be helping with this shoot because we're doing Klaine and it's me and my friend who are both female and my parents won't take part in it) So I know how the angles and stuff work but I wasn't sure if you guys had any ideas or had found a better way to do it. Those photos really help though. I think we'll be able to make it work from that. Thank you! =)

As a former performer/ cosplayer and now amateur photog.... I will say this. In the moment are best when the two cosplayers have some chemistry already. Although stage kissing is a good suggestion it takes practice and tricky angles to pull off successfully. Your best bet is the almost kiss photos, overall you have more control and can use almost any angle to get the look you want.
