Best material to add to a plastic toy gun?
I'm trying to modify a toy gun for a costume piece that I'm working on. However there's some bulk sections that need to be added to the top of the gun and underneath the barrel. I'm curious as to what the best material to use on plastic to make these enhancements would be? Clay? Foam? Paper Mache? I'd like to keep it as light weight and durable as possible. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Could you provide a reference of the gun you have and the piece you're making it after?

Depending on what exactly you're trying to add, you could use PVC pipe, PaperClay, foam... It's hard to say without knowing what you're doing.
I have a toy blaster that I needed to lengthen the barrel of, as well as add some other bits and pieces to. I used some PVC pipe to extend the barrel out, some silver and rubber plumbing rings for the details I needed, and some PaperClay and balsa wood to make a grid I needed on the side. Painted it and voila... ![]() ![]() |
