This is a little old topic already, but well... Height shouldn't matter. Persons I cosplay are usually a lot taller than I am, though, I'm going to cosplay Ciel as well and I'm about 5'9'' tall so...

Height is not an issue. My sebastian and I are the same height as you, and we just make it work. we play with poses for pictures to make it seem less like we are the same height

I'm another one at 5'9", and I'm doing a version with heels.
I think, personally, with Ciel the focus should be on his outfits rather than his height anyway

Height doesnt matter really. Im 5'9 and cosplaying as alois soon and may friend 5'4 and shes cosplaying as ciel.Talk about huge height differences but we thought of poses and stuff for pictures to make us look same height

I'll admit to avoiding shorter characters, myself. But that's just because at 5'8" in a short family, I'm actually a little self conscious about my height.

In general, it doesn't matter all that much. I've seen more than one very good, rather tall Hiei. Not to mention the fact that Sebastian is on my loose to-make list, and I'm a couple of inches above you. You never know what height Sebastians you'll find to take pictures with. ^^
