PMX loves cosplay

This year we want to focus a lot of our energies to make cosplay better at PMX.
Like official gatherings and meet-ups, better cosplay lounge, more photo locations, repair stations.

If you have any other suggestions, I will do my best to implement them.

Thanks
-Jerry

What most cons do on here is let users organize gatherings. The cosplay department would make a "Master Gathering Thread" after gatherings get a certain amount of people and put those gatherings on the Master Gatherings. Also, set a deadline for gatherings so no last minute ones randomly pop up. Definitely put up a list of locations that don't get in the way of panels, doorways, crowded areas, etc.

Hi Jerry! Regarding the cosplay lounge:

If PMX is doing the lounge again, it is imperative that it is consistently referred to as the "Cosplay Lounge" in everything the attendees see: signage, programming grid, convention guides, etc.

There was a lot of inconsistency in the naming last year. Contrary to the requests made by the Cosplay Dept., the signage outside the door said "CosFest Lounge" and there was reference to a "CosFest Lounge" on the programming grid as well. There are two problems with this:
1) People don't know what a CosFest is, so they ignore it
or,
2) People assume it specifically has to do with the masquerade and only masquerade contestants are allowed in

Also, if it's placed in a side hallway that's not a high-traffic area, it would help if there's signs posted around the con to inform attendees about it and point them in the right direction.

If the room is large enough, it would be an ideal place to offer indoor cosplay gatherings or fan activities such as cosplay chess. However, going in that direction also means that the use schedule needs to be monitored to make sure that there isn't a problem like 2 huge gatherings scheduled at once (for example, Bleach and Kingdom Hearts, which could both potentially get very large).
