Phantom From MapleStory
Hello, this is the first cosplay I'm planning, so I have absolutely no idea how to go about doing anything... here's what I have for now though.
Reference images: https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/im..._rxxct4Cn8Ys8w https://encrypted-tbn2.google.com/im...swvLYqVby0FY78 https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/im...KtIQ9xpJhP1Twt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5ZCW...feature=relmfu (1:44 for a full-view shot of his outfit) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkJt9...eature=related I already bought the wig, so I just did a few sketches of his outfit and broke it down to these things: Hat >Visor >Head Scarf (?) >White Internal structure (?) >Feathers >Bling Top >Embroidered Epaulettes >Collared embroidered gold-buttoned shirt (?) Pants > Brown patterned (?) Shoes > Presumably knee-high, or slightly lower, embroidered Gloves > White, gold trim > Chain Cape > White, gold trim, embroidered Cards > Plastic (?) or cardboard (?) Cane > No freaking idea oAo Belt > No freaking idea either oAo Overcoat (not sure if I should do this one since there's already a lot to cover and he doesn't always wear it) > gold trim, embroidered, collared I guess the main problem I have is that I have no idea where to go to get most of the pieces of the costume (or how to go about making them). No sewing experience here. :\ I was thinking of making the visor and cards out of the same material (plastic), but what kind should I use? PVC card material? Also, how do I print designs on them? I was thinking of looking for one of those button badge printing companies since they seem to have a way of printing images directly onto plastic- I'm not sure if they'd do it for me, so I suppose I'm looking for an alternative in case they don't. What kind of clothing should I be using for a base for the top, pants and cape, if any? Where can I get them? How should I go about altering them? Also, once I get the various components of the hat done, how should I make sure that they remain adhered firmly to each other while worn? Sorry if there are too many questions, I'm just really confused and don't know where to get started. >_< |

I can help you out with the plastic at least, I too have no idea how to sew lol.
In order to get nice piping designs on plastics your best bet would be to either cut your own piping from the same plastic like I did with Zhou Tai's armor ![]() or you can use acrylic piping that you can bend into the shapes you want. I did that for my raven bracers. ![]() Hope that helps! I have all of the step by step stuff in my blog if you want to see it. http://junkerscosplay.blogspot.com/
