So this past weekend at Northern Michigan Anime, my friend Sarah and each did our own take on the Red Mage.

I still want to fancy up the coat more, and get a better shirt, and do a million other little things to improve the costume. But I really like the way it looks with the sleeves cut off vs the previous full-sleeved versions.

It was awesomeriffic. We are now halfway there to forming The Best Party Ever.

@Everyone: Huzzah! I'm finally getting to work on Celes again! I'm back to stitching down these stupid patches, but I've got beads and all kinds of other things to put on the bodice, and I ordered the crystals and settings for my necklace and brooch for the necklace. I'm just so glad to get back to work. My wrist is still achy from finishing my friend's baby blanket, but I just wanna work on this gown... ^.^;;;

@Seifer - As for paint mixing, I'll have to get that very specific grey with a touch of blue tint for that Cecil armor. The scarves worked out because I did go in for quite a few extra hours these last few weeks. One advantage of us being over booked and under staffed.

Your new Edgar looks really awesome! So are you using the same scarves then? I hope your wigs come soon.

@Terra - can't wait to see some progress on all of this.

@Celine - Well, I did see a few people from FF4 at SakuraCon this year. There are more old school FF cosplayers these days than there were a few years ago it seems as Dissidia revived that. If you did make it out to SakuraCon, that would be awesome. That's where I'm debuting Cecil. And I've never seen anyone do the 4 fiends, so that's really cool.

@tifaia - I'm glad you had fun as Rydia. Cool new profile picture. Yay for savings. I think my Sackboy cost less than $30 overall including all the fabric.

@ Terra~Esper: I like White Mages too!! I am glad to see you are posting again and I am really looking forward to seeing those progress pictures for Celes!!

@ FinalEVA: I am glad work was able to help you with your cosplay! Even if it left you exhausted afterwards. :P As for my Edgar, thank you! I am really excited to see the whole thing come together. I am using the same scarves but I have altered them just a little bit. It's for the better though, I promise. I am waiting for some red trim to show up and then I can finally call those finished as well. I still have the boots, the torso armor, and the wigs left.

@Seifer - I am sure your Edgar will come out great! Good luck on the rest of the costume. My last piece of fabric came in yesterday (the Pagoda). I will take a picture of them after this weekend (I'll be working the whole time). I really do like the blue in the Pagoda fabric. The trim seems to work really well with those scarves. I liked the way it looked on Shadow.

@ FinalEva: I am so glad!! I'm looking forward to working on the design for you too!! If you want I can add some trim to Gestahl as well. Ebay has an awesome selection. I even picked up some red trim for Edgar because I loved how it looked on Shadow. :P

You should make a red mage too, and join the red mage army! (btw I am forming an army)
I'm hopefully going to have heavy metal black belt done by Ramencon this weekend; I'm really trying to make re-interpretive job class cosplay A Thing. I saw a really great steampunk Black Mage a while ago, and there was a really neat Femthief at PAX. I totally think steampunk/lolita/cybergoth/whatever versions of red mage and fighter et al would be super-neat.

Actually...my very first costume was red mage artifact armor from FF11. XD I plan to remake it way, way, way, wayyyyy down the line. There's just too much on my plate to tackle it right now. lol

@MDA: How's the progress coming along?

Some trim would definitely be cool for Gestahl. I need to make this costume as fancy as I can for an Emperor. Duct tape dummy is going your way today, BTW. Along with the EVA series.

Swatches finally came in for Celes.

I'm thinking the yellow/gold in the bottom right hand corner. Just above it is the reverse side.

That one and the gold taking the left looks great against the wig.

I can finally join in this one lol. I'm working on Luneth's default outfit now. I just have to make his vest and little yellow pouch and I'll be done. And can I join the Red Mage Army too? I could totally get behind that! I could do a lolita red mage! I have the perfect fabric for it already. (>^_^)>
