General wig info?

I've never "acutally" used a wig for a costume, but I bought a really long blonde (for Rapunzel) off ebay recently and I just got it today. I really only have one friend that uses wigs for her costumes, and she really didn't tell me much. I did buy a styrofoam head to keep it on, and I also bought a wig cap. With this particular one, I'm sort of worried about it getting dusty/dirty, because since it's for Rapunzel, it's about knee-length.

What should I know about wigs in general? (Maybe particularly LONG ones?) Thanks!
