AWA Questions

Okay so i need to knwo before going lol.

1. Am i allowed to bring outside food in with me if i had a waist pouch/backpack?

2. Apparently AWA is a 24 hour event, so is the main area/lobby open 24 hours for Cosplayers as well? (I have only $10.00 left and can't afford a Hotel room anywhere but i wanna stay till Sunday).

3. I'll post more if some come to mind.

That should be okay, but I know certain areas such as galleries, artist's alley, and the dealers room usually forbid any kind of food or drink.

Well, they won't let you squat/camp in the lobby or convention areas, but as long as you're awake and on your feet, you probably won't get bothered.

I fixed the link for you.

But yeah AWA is pretty lax when it comes to badges. You'll need one for the dealer's room, artist alley, and sometimes panels. Otherwise you can just roam around and enjoy yourself. People are up and about at all hours of the night and early hours of the morning, too. Actually that's one thing I never really liked about AWA - hard to get a good night's sleep with the music and noise in the lobby. Staff is pretty chill, only issue I've really heard from them in the past is they get very strict about what they consider a 'skimpy' costume and often times ask people to cover up more than other conventions I've been to. I don't think bringing in food from the outside would be an issue, either. Usually that only becomes an issue when going to a convention in a convention hall that has their own food vendors and won't even allow the dealers to sell snacks (for example, MetroCon).

Panels usually run until 3 or 4 in the morning. So there's usually stuff to do. I'll probably take my sewing machine to the lobby tonight after my friends go to bed. (Working 3rd shift has borked my circadian rhythm.)

The hotel really frowns upon people sleeping in areas that aren't a hotel room. If they catch you the first couple of times, they'll probably just wake you up and tell you to go back to your room to sleep. But if they keep catching you, they may ask you to leave entirely.

But if a con-goer catches you (like me, because I'm mean like that), they may snap your picture while you are dead to the world.

As long as you aren't making a big production out of it, you can usually bring outside food with you.

If you must stay at the hotel for 24 hours without getting a room, please, please, please bathe. Even if you're just taking a "trucker's bath" in the bathroom. (Soap up a washcloth and wash your mouth, pits, butt and crotch.) Your fellow con-goers will thank you for not stinking up the place.
