What is 'wig tape?'

First off, I'm not an experienced wig user, and I'm wearing what's technically my first wig to be Rapunzel this coming Halloween. It goes without saying that it's seriously long, but it's also very heavy; it doesn't really stay on my head that well. I was telling this to one of my friends, who is more experienced with wigs, and she says that I can use her wig tape, and that she doesn't use it because it pulls her actual hair. However, she didn't really explain what wig tape actually is? How does that even work?

I would suggest buying clips and just sewing them in. These are what I use and just one in the front can hold the weight of two long wigs, some wiring, and ears on my head. Putting one in the front and one on each side would be best for your wig.

Wig tape/toupee tape is a clothlike, flesh-toned (well, mine's a pale pink) tape designed to stick to your skin but gently enough that it won't rip out hair or hurt to take off. It's not TOO sticky though, so it only works for me if I also have pins and clips in my wig. But when my Schala wig (this giant thing- the ponytail goes almost to my hips and it took two wigs to make http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3216129/ ) wouldn't stop slipping one day, a few pieces of it along the hairline of my wig did the trick. It also works well for taping wiring to your body if you have costumes with wires or circuitry either for effects or decoration.
