scorpion mask help
ok so i found this link and want to make the scorpion mask for my halloween costume but was wondering if there is a good subsitute to apoxy sculpt something non toxic is what i need of course since its going on my face.

u could just use straight up paperclay but as u saw they created a barrier between the apoxy w clay so u should b ok. i personally would do a base of model magic then covered w paper clay then sanded then another light layer of paper clay to give it the smoothness.

well i bought the DAS clay so i can use that and then the papper clay?

ya das is really similar to paperclay so u prob could do the whole thing in ds but it gets heavy quickly

FYI with paper clay to avoid the fragility part of it... take some super glue and rub it into the dried clay with a blue rubber glove. It will make it nice and strong and hard.

mfwic.... using modpodge hard coat does pretty much the same thing... and if u take too long it wont stick to ur gloves

it looks really heavy....... is it? im thinking an invisible strap and spirit gum along w fashion tape

its not too heavy. how would i apply/use the invisible strap, spirit gum and fashion tape?

so ud have to glue the invisible strap (look for invisible elastic at fabric stores) to the inside of the mask w super glue or some other strong glue. strap needs to b big enough to get around ur head. before u put on the mask apply some spirit gum to ur face most likely right near ur nose but only a little bit. then put the fashion tape on the inside around the areas that will b touching fabric. (velcro also works for this
